Value of Southwest points
The value of Southwest points is variable based on the paid fare.
If you’ll redeem points for an average of 1.65 cents each, that makes a 30K signup bonus with companion pass worth $990.
However you can also get more value than that by transferring Chase points to Southwest or buying Southwest tickets with your companion pass!
For example:
- A one-way Los Angeles-San Francisco nonstop flight on 4/17 is $44.98 with tax. It can also be bought for 2,227 points plus $5.60 tax. So 2,227 points gets you a value of $39.38 ($44.98 airfare less the $5.60 tax on the points ticket), imputing a value of 1.77 cents (39.38/2,227) per point.
- A one-way Newark-Ft. Lauderdale nonstop flight on 3/5 is $50.98 with tax. It can also be bought for 2,669 points plus $5.60 tax. So 2,669 points gets you a value of $45.38 ($50.98 airfare less the $5.60 tax on the points ticket), imputing a value of 1.7 cents (45.38/2,669) per point.
- A one-way Philadelphia-Orlando nonstop flight on 1/13 is $50.98 with tax. It can also be bought for 2,669 points plus $5.60 tax. So 2,669 points gets you a value of $45.38 ($50.98 airfare less the $5.60 tax on the points ticket), imputing a value of 1.7 cents (45.38/2,669) per point.
- A one-way LaGuardia-Chicago nonstop flight on 3/20 is $50.98 with tax. It can also be bought for 2,669 points plus $5.60 tax. So 2,669 points gets you a value of $45.38 ($50.98 airfare less the $5.60 tax on the points ticket), imputing a value of 1.7 cents (45.38/2,669) per point.
- A one-way LaGuardia-Fort Lauderdale nonstop flight on 1/27 is $98.98 with tax. It can also be bought for 6,145 points plus $5.60 tax. So 6,145 points gets you a value of $93.38 ($98.98 airfare less the $5.60 tax on the points ticket), imputing a value of 1.52 cents (93.38/6,145) per point.
- A one-way LaGuardia-Denver nonstop flight on 3/20 is $90.98 with tax. It can also be bought for 5,571 points plus $5.60 tax. So 5,571 points gets you a value of $85.38 ($90.98 airfare less the $5.60 tax on the points ticket), imputing a value of 1.53 cents (85.38/5,571) per point.
- A one-way Newark-San Diego nonstop flight on 4/17 is $108.98 with tax. It can also be bought for 6,870 points plus $5.60 tax. So 6,870 points gets you a value of $103.38 ($108.98 airfare less the $5.60 tax on the points ticket), imputing a value of 1.5 cents (103.38/6,870) per point.
- A one-way Newark-Phoenix nonstop flight on 2/10 is $118.98 with tax. It can also be bought for 7,546 points plus $5.60 tax. So 7,546 points gets you a value of $113.38 ($118.98 airfare less the $5.60 tax on the points ticket), imputing a value of 1.5 cents (113.38/7,546) per point.
Companion pass and A-List Status
With the consumer cards, you will get a companion pass and 30,000 points after spending $4,000 in 3 months. The companion pass is valid through 12/31/19 and allows you to bring a companion with you for free whenever you fly Southwest, even if you are flying on a free ticket! That effectively doubles the value of your Southwest points. There is no limit to the number of free companion flights that you can take.
You can designate a companion and change that companion up to 3 times in a calendar year, so you can name up to 4 companions over the course of a year.
You can get a free companion pass valid through 12/31/20 if you earn 110,000 points in a year from select sources, including earnings from consumer and business credit card signups and credit card spending! If you earn 110,000 Southwest points in 2019 the pass will be extended through 12/31/20.
While Chase no longer allows you to signup for a consumer Southwest card if you already have one, you can signup for a business Southwest card even if you have a consumer Southwest card open.
Or, you can always put items like federal taxes on a Southwest card to help hit the spending you would need to hit 110K points earned in a year. You’ll pay a 1.87% processing fee, but if you take advantage of the points earned from spending and the companion pass free travel that can be worthwhile.
The Southwest Priority card also earns 1,500 tier points towards A-List status for every $10,000 spent. You can earn a maximum of 15,000 tier points annually. You can learn more about A-List status here.
Transfer Chase Points To Southwest to maximize the value of your Companion Pass
You can transfer points from the following Chase cards to Southwest at a 1:1 ratio. You can redeem those Southwest points and bring a companion with you for free, doubling the value of your points!
Chase premium cards with transferable points:
- Chase Sapphire Reserve
- $450 annual fee, $300 in annual travel credit, 50K points signup bonus, earn 3 points per dollar on dining/travel, 50% bonus value on using points for paid travel redemptions, Global Entry/Pre-check, Priority Pass lounge access.
- Chase Sapphire Preferred
- $95 annual fee waived for first year, 50K points signup bonus, earn 2 points per dollar on dining/travel, 25% bonus value on using points for paid travel redemptions.
- Chase Ink Business Preferred
- $95 annual fee, 80K points signup bonus, earn 3 points per dollar on select business spending and travel, 25% bonus value on using points for paid travel redemptions.
- Chase no annual fee cards with transferable points if you, a spouse, or an additional user have one of the premium cards above:
- Chase Freedom Card
- No annual fee, 15K points signup bonus, earn 5 points per dollar in rotating categories.
- Chase Freedom Unlimited Card
- No annual fee, 15K points signup bonus, earn 1.5 points per dollar everywhere.
- Chase Ink Business Unlimited Card
- No annual fee, 50K points signup bonus, earn 1.5 points per dollar everywhere.
- Chase Ink Business Cash Card
- No annual fee, 50K points signup bonus, earn up to 5 points per dollar.
- Chase Freedom Card
Annual travel credit
If you have the Priority card you’ll get reimbursed for $75 in annual spending on Southwest flights! Between the Priority card’s annual 7.5K point bonus and the annual travel credit, you’ll get about $200 of Southwest travel every year, more than covering the card’s annual fee.
Upgraded boarding certificates
If you have the Priority card you’ll get reimbursed for 4 annual purchases of upgraded A1-A15 boarding positions so that you can get some of the best seats on the plane. Southwest is increasing these fees so that thsy cost $15-$25 per leg, so this is a benefit worth up to $100 per year.
20% cash back on in-flight purchases
If you have the Priority card you’ll get 20% cash back on top of points for purchases of drinks, messaging, movies, and Wi-Fi on Southwest flights!
Free changes and cancellations. Lock in low fares with no penalty
While other mileage currencies charge up to $200 to cancel an award ticket, Southwest continues to allow you to cancel an award flight and redeposit the points in your account for future use without any penalties.
Coupled with 2 free carry-ons and 2 free checked bags per person, that’s a lot of added value. A family of 4 needing to cancel award tickets on another airline would set you back $400-$800 versus it being a free change on Southwest. A family of 4 checking 2 bags each would run $560 round-trip on another airline versus paying nothing on Southwest.
Thinking of taking a trip but not 100% sure about it? With Southwest points you can lock in a good rate and just cancel the trip free of charge at any point before the flight if you can’t make it!
You can use the points for yourself or book award tickets for anyone else you want to give a ticket to.
Southwest allows you to redeem points for any seat on any flight. There are no blackout dates or capacity controls.
When Southwest has a fare sale the amount of points go on sale as well as it tracks to the price of the ticket. Best of all Southwest will refund your points if the price of your award ticket falls! Just rebook your trip online for the same dates or give them a call for the credit.
Southwest points will never expire as long as you earn points every 24 months.
Don’t fly? Redeem for gift cards!
You can also use 30,000 points to get $300 worth of gift cards or 60,000 points to get $600 worth of gift cards to places like Alamo, Amazon, Avis, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Bloomingdales, Brooks Brothers, Budget, Carnival Cruises, Express, Fairmont, Gap, Hertz, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, Macy’s, National, Nike, Saks, Sea World, Shutterfly, Staples, Starbucks, Target, The Children’s Place, TJMaxx, Walmart, Zappos and more.
Cash back on top of points
Chase business cards in the chart above are eligible for additional cash back via Visa Savings Edge. That means you can get points plus 2% cash back at Chevron, Sheetz, AutoZone, or Texaco. You’ll earn points plus 3% cash back at Boost Mobile. You’ll earn points plus 4% cash back at Alamo, National, and MGM hotels. You’ll earn points plus 5% cash back at Lenovo and Wyndham hotels.
Business card information, benefits, and 5/24
2 of the cards in the chart above are business cards, but you may already have a business that needs a card to keep track of expenses. For example if your name is Joe Smith and you sell items online, or if you have any other side business and want a credit card to better keep track of business expenditures you can open a business credit card for “Joe Smith” as the business. You don’t need to file any messy government paperwork to be allowed to do that. Just be sure to select “Sole Proprietorship” as the business type and just use your social security number in the Tax Identification Number field.
It’s important to just write your own name as the business name if you are just applying for your own small business as a Sole Proprietorship that doesn’t have any business paperwork.
All of the cards in this post are subject to 5/24 restrictions, read more about that here.
However, it’s important to note that business cards from most banks, including Chase business cards, do not get added to your 5/24 count of recently opened cards. That’s because business cards from most banks don’t show up on your personal credit report and the 5/24 count is based off of your personal credit report.
If you’re like me and you run more than one business, you can signup for multiple of the same card for each business to manage each businesses expenses separately.
You can receive a signup bonus on each card once every 24 months for each business that you manage.
You can apply for a business card under your own name and under a business name. That would provide enough signup bonus points to earn a companion pass!
Another benefit of business cards not reporting on your personal credit report is that your credit score won’t be hurt when you spend money on your cards. When you spend money on personal cards your score will be hurt even if you pay your bill on time. That’s because a whopping 30% of your credit score is based on credit utilization, so you lose lots of points even if you pay your bills before the statement due date. You can pay off your credit card bill before your statement close date to avoid that, but that takes effort and laying out money well before you have to. Additionally it’s good to have the statement close with a couple dollars to show the card is active and being paid every month. On business cards from banks like AMEX and Chase the spending is not reported on your personal credit report, so you can wait until the money is due without it having a negative effect on your score. That also means if you close the card, it won’t have an effect on your credit score.
As always, Southwest benefits include:
- 2 free checked bags per passenger.
- No change fees to switch your flight. Whether you are on a paid or an award flight you can change without penalty!
- No cancellation fee to cancel your flight (you will get Southwest credit for the full amount paid, even on non-refundable wanna get away fares) or to cancel and redeposit your award flight.
- A refund of the fare or point difference if the price of your flight goes down after you buy it, just call to get the credit at any time before your flight!
Will you signup for any Southwest cards?
Southwest is stopping flights from Newark to ft Lauderdale starting when?
April 7.
But they will still operate Sunday flights from LGA-FLL and daily flights from ISP-FLL and PHL-FLL.
I currently have the SW card. Cancelling it after my EWR-FLL trip next week. I don’t travel to the other destinations from EWR, and I’m not interested in stops to FLL (since United has about a nonstop flight for that route about every 90 minutes during the high season). Ashame.
Why not fly from ISP/LGA/PHL to FLL nonstop?
Aside from that list you posted a few Months ago, I have not seen EWR-FLL cancellation anywhere. In fact, their website has that route available through August. Could it they reconsidered and changed their plans? Can you verify?
Please show me a screenshot of a nonstop EWR-FLL flight after 4/7.
Do you think i’d be able to get chase to qualify me for this if I got a new card in December?
You can secure message them or call them to ask if they will match this offer.
If I just signed up for the consumer card can I still get this deal? Or do I have to get 110,000 points in order to get the companion pass like normal?
You can secure message them or call them to ask if they will match this offer.
How beneficial is this from Detroit ? Don’t think I ever flew them.
Hi Dan, do you get the companion pass ONLY after the 3 months? (ie you cant use it immediately correct?)
You will get it after you finish the $4K spending, no need to wait 3 months.
you get it next month after you complete minimum spend requirement.
Thanks for posting! If it weren’t for you, Dan, our family would not have had the opportunity to go on and around as many trips as have been fortunate to have ended together.
I have one quick question about this offer. If my wife is an authorized second user on my chase southwest consumer plus card, can she sign up for a new card herself as the primary and take advantage of this offer?
Sure!
If denied for any reason, just call and explain that she is merely an authorized user on any of the cards that she is not the primary cardholder to have those excluded from the 5/24 count.
Thanks for all you do for your followers, Dan. What is the 5/24 count? I have one Chase Saphire card. Does this mean I will not be eligible?
5/24 means that you were approved for 5 consumer cards in the past 24 months.
You can get this offer if you have a Sapphire card.
You write
“If you’re like me and you run more than one business, you can signup for multiple of the same card for each business to manage each businesses expenses separately.”
You have another business aside from DansDeals?!?!
Thanks for asking, yes I do.
Dr Moose, Dan runs an infant/toddler daycare on the side. He is great with crying kids, diaper changing, bottles. Kidding…. This site seems pretty action-packed, I’m surprised you have other business ventures.
Points transferred to other people (my husband, for example) do not count towards CP, correct?
Correct.
Does the companion pass for spending 4k in 3 months apply to the business cards or not?
No. It only applies to the cards that I wrote it as part of the signup bonus.
Can i cancel my current southwest card and then re apply?
If you have earned a bonus on a Southwest consumer card in the past 24 months then you would not be eligible.
Otherwise you would be eligible if you don’t have any active Southwest consumer cards. It may take the system a couple days after you close a card though to realize that the card is closed.
1) Do the 24 months start from when you opened the card or when you qualified for the bonus?
2) If I earned the bonus on the Plus card within the past 24 months and sign up for the Premier, can I still get the bonus?
Thank you for your help navigating the new chase rules!
I have the personal premier card. Could I cancel this and sign up for the priority to get the companion pass? Unfortunately I don’t have a business.
See comment above.
Hi! If I sign up and get the pass and my husband has tons of southwest miles can we combine them? Meaning can he buy me a ticket with miles and I apply the companion pass? Or can he transfer miles to me to buy tickets with miles that can be used with the pass? Hope the q makes sense. Thanks!
Sure!
He can book your award ticket with his points and then you can apply the companion pass!
Are any of these Southwest Business cards eligible for the free companion passes, or just the consumer ones?
Consumer.
Dear Dan, do all these cards come with an automatic companion pass or just the personal cards?
As the first sentence of the post says, consumer.
The title to this post is somewhat misleading.
The companion pass is not unlimited, it is limited to 12/31/19.
I beg to differ.
It is unlimited through 12/31/19. I can’t fit every details of every offer into a title that has to be 140 characters or less for SMS alerts.
It is unlimited as opposed to other airline’s companion passes that come with credit cards, like Delta, which is valid for one use only.
You write that you get a companion card for signing up for a “consumer” card. But then you write that we can always sign up for the business card if we already have the personal card.
Just to clarify..if I sign up for the Chase Southwest Business Premier Card, after I spend 3K I will get 60K miles plus a companion card?
Nowhere in this post does it say anything about the business card being eligible for an automatic companion pass.
You will get 60K with the business card, the end. If you do earn 110K total points this year you would earn a companion pass valid through 12/31/20.
Is it subject to 5/24
Please read the post.
Thanks for this post! We will be signing up.
Enjoy!
Dan,
Do you have an article you wrote, or can you explain about credit scores when opening and closing cards.
I have a lot of cards, and also from years ago. Have excellent credit.
I want to get rid of some cards, and open new ones.
Which do I get rid of? I would love to get rid of all of them (I only use 2 cards)
But what would it do to my credit?
Thanks
I can use sane advice as well.
Older article, but:
https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/building-credit-and-credit-card-faqs/
If I’ve reached the 5/24 limitation, and I ask a relative to get approved for the card and add myself and my wife as authorized users, would we be able to use the companion passes (and all other benefits)? Or are the benefits only applicable to the primary card holder?
Primary only.
@Dan
Is this good news? To me this sound like the beginning of the end to the companion pass as we know it, which is many times better than this.
Why would this mean that?
Southwest is making the one time exclusive campanion pass too easy for the masses. Will they want to keep the program as lucrative as it is now
I don’t see anything changing. This is a smart way for them to gain more credit card customers.
Do they still offer the 40/20 for personal cards or only 30,000? Thanks.
Is this is beginning southwest limiting you to one product (cross restriction between personal and business) and only offering 30000 points. That would be a huge loss for many people who get over 100000 point to spend freely for merely opening two cards.
You can have a personal Southwest and a business Southwest card.
Read ‘beginning to’
Nothing has changed recently, so I’m not sure what you’re seeing.
@Sam, you make a good point.
Is anyone having trouble signing up?
I’m a little confused, doesn’t this companion pass apply to all flight that I will book for the year of 2019 I will be able to bring a companion for free plus taxes?
Yes.
If I’m a teacher and have some expenses out of pocket for my class, does that qualify me for a business card?
It can if you make that your business. Just apply with the business name as your name.
Thank you.
If me and my wife each got the consumer card for 60,000 sign up bonus, can we pool together to earn companion pass?
Do you mean to earn it for 2020?
No.
I mean do our points get pooled into one account in general – that way I can get 120,000 in one account which would earn me a companion pass. Does that work?
No. They do not pool from two accounts.
I applied yesterday in a hurry with your last ‘HURRY’ offer. Do you think they will match today’s deal (which is far better!!)?
You can secure message them or call them to ask if they will match this offer.
Do I call Chase Lending or Southwest directly?
Chase.
I called and they said no. Curious if anyone had a positive response
Try sending a secure message.
How do you send a secure meesage?
Does the cardholder have to fly or can he book 2 tickets for others
Cardholder has to fly.
“Note that you can only have one open Southwest consumer card and one Southwest business card at a time.”
But one can have two business cards open for two different businesses, that would post to the same Rapid Rewards account and count for the Companion pass? A bit confused
One per business.
I have the same question but your answer doesn’t really clarify – can multiple cards be linked the same RR account and all count for the Companion?
If the initial flight is purchased on a different cc, can you still use the companion pass?
It doesn’t matter what card or what points were used. You can still add a free companion if the person has companion pass status.
Thanks. Companion pass status?
IF you are approved for this card offer and spend $4,000 you get companion pass status.
Can I link multiple SW credit cards to the same Rapid Rewards account and pool together the points for a CP? And do they cards need to all be in my name?
Sure.
If I plan on flying to Cleveland with my wife 2-3 times this year (my daughter is moving there – be nice to her!). Is this the best way for use to get there (from Newark)?
No, Southwest does not fly between CLE-NYC.
You’ll want United miles (10K each way) or their partner Star Alliance miles like Avianca (7.5K each way)
With the companion pass, do you have to choose a specific companion for all your flights? Or can you have a different free companion each time you fly?
Yes.
You can change your companion 3 times during a calendar year, so you can name up to 4 companions over the course of a year.
True that I can change companions during the year, but I assume you can’t change back and forth. That wouldn’t really be “name 4 companions”
You can make three changes. It is considered a change whether you revert back to a previous companion or add a new person. They both count toward the limit of three.
If you open the consumer card and get the companion pass, Then open the business card and get the 60k points. Then spend another 50k on the business card. Do you get the companion pass extended to 2020? In other words, can the points be shared? Or if your husband does the business and you do the consumer can you get 2 companion passes (1 each)?
If you open the consumer card and spend $4K you’ll have at least 34K points.
If you also open a business card and spend $3K you’ll have at least 63K points.
Those combine, so you’re at 97K points. If you earn 110K total your companion pass will be valid through 12/31/20.
First of all, Thanks a million as always.
Second, does the companion need to be the same person always or can I book a different companion each trip?
Thanks!!

Is there a specific website or person to call to find out when I last received a bonus from my southwest chase card! I know I opened it up in January 2017, but I don’t know when exactly I received the bonus.
Call Chase?
I already spent 15 minutes with them on the phone. They said that since the card was purged from their system in 2017 they couldn’t see what month/day I earned the bonus. UGH
Did you go to your history on Southwest.com?
No. They said there was no way they could figure it out. That is genius. I am gonna do it. Thanks so much.
just tried it. They only go back to 2018 and I know I got them in either January or February of 2017
To help meet the minimum spend, are additional user cards offered on the sw consumer card?
Yes.
Would I be able to use this companion pass for a flight already booked for the end of February?
Yes.
what about a flight on jan 27?
I already have a SW Visa card with my wife holding extra card on my account.
Can she apply for this even though she technically has a card in her name already?

Which card is best to apply for .. from the above mentioned offer ?
Best for whom?
They each come with their own benefits and costs that are outlined in the post.
Hi. My questions never get posted. Can I cancel my current older southwest card and then sign up again here? Or, can i call them and ask if they’ll upgrade or change my card to the better southwest listed here and give me the bonuses?
PEBKAC error…
Your question was posted and I answered you earlier today:

Hi Dan,
Long time reader, first time poster. I already have the Chase Sapphire Visa – will I still be eligible for this card?
Sure.
just got approved for both the business (60k bonus) and consumer 40+20k bonus. I did have to call chase to talk about my business which took over an hour but in the end approved after waiting 24 hrs. Will end up with 135k points after my $15k in spending an a companion pass till 12/31/20. Thanks Dan!
Congrats!
I have the southwest biz card and got the bonus a year ago. Is it possible to get approved for another business card and bonus even if they’re both sole proprietorship under my social? Or do the businesses have to have separate Tax ID’s?
TIA
HOT? The 60k deal combined with the 60k Business is way better than this deal, no?
That required you to have 2 open 5/24 slots and have a business and spend significantly more to earn the companion pass. It was a solid offer, but only for a limited subset of people.
This gets you a companion pass with just a single card, so it has much greater appeal.
You only need one slot, the same as with this deal. This CP is only for about year and getting the two cards now is for about two years. Also after the one year then what? With the two cards you can rinse and repeat. Yes there is more spend involved but also a lot more points. I understand the appeal but in no way is this hot unless you want to call the other deal smoking hot. 🙂
Going to have to agree to disagree.
The consumer+business offer was great for people that know what they are doing and can attain that level of spending to hit CP. Most people who are that level in this hobby are already over 5/24 anyway…
This is an easy hit for any casual consumer. No business needed, no mega spending needed. No multiple cards needed. The mass appeal and a companion pass make it hot.
if i get 30,000 points in 2019 then get another 70,000 in 2020 would i get a companion pass till 2021?
No, you need to earn 110K in a calendar year.
Do you need to have the full 110k miles in your account for the companion pass to extend until 2020 or is it ok to use some as long as you have gotten 110k throughout 2019 year?
@Dan Thanks for the post. Got approved instantly.
You can use them, you just need to earn that amount.
Thank you
Been over a week since statement close and no points posted. Anyway to get them to post? Keep getting you need to wait 30 days from Chase.
Can you open 2 business cards + 1 consumer to hit the 110k? (60+60+30=150k)~would need to spend $10k
This might be easier for me than spending 20k to get to 110k with 1 consumer + 1 business (60+30 bonus=97k) then would need to spend an additional $13k to make a total spend $20k
I made a southwest years ago more than 24 months ago is there a number I can call to tell them I want to swap the card for a new one to get the rewards or do I need to close it and reapply I do not want to have a closed account.
How soon do I get the benefits? If I apply for the card and get approved instantly, will I be able to use the free companion this week?
No.
In general, if one transfers Chase points to Southwest points to qualify for the companion pass and does not use those points up during the time that the companion pass is valid, can they afterwards transfer those Southwest points back to Chase for use on other airlines?
I requested cc on 1/13 and still waiting for Chase to get back to me. Is there anything I can do to help the process?
fine print says current cardholders not eligible. Does this apply for a business card? if I close a card to not be a cardholder, personal or business, is there a waiting period to open one in this offer, if i haven’t had bonus in 2 years? will it work?
You mentioned that I can transfer Chase points to my Southwest card. Would those transferred points count towards the 110,000 needed for the companion pass extension through the end of 2020?
No.
my husband just got the business premier card , with his name & business name imprinted on card . You wrote that if he gets 2 seperate cards , that would qualify for 110,000 companion pass. How does he re apply for a card with just the business name on it ?
My understanding is that points from personal acct and business acct cannot be combined to qualify for companion pass .
Can I combine points from a southwest card and a chase sapphire card to earn a companion pass valid for two years?
Hi Dan
Thanks as always for all your help!
I was wondering if I’m traveling with children, and I want to use the A1 – 15 upgrades, do I need to buy for all the kids or do they tag along?
When does this offer expire??
Thanks!
February 11
Why is this such a great deal? The companion pass is only for one year whereas 110k Southwest milea would get it for 2 years. When they have their higher Sign Up Bonuses, with 2 cards you can get the 110k, so you are getting 110k points and companion pass for 2 years. If you get this card now, you will be ineligible to get this card for 2 years. The better offer by far is to get the 2 Southwest cards vs this one.
You can’t signup for 2 consumer cards anymore and not everyone has a business or can meet the spending required on 2 cards to get to 110K.
This is a simple and rich offer. 1 card signup and you’ll get a valuable companion pass.
If you can get get a consumer and business card and meet the spending for both, they by all means, take advantage of that offer. But for the masses, this is an awesome offer.
Do you need to book or fly by 12/31/19?
Can you combined busines and private cards to extend until 2020?
Fly by 12/31/19.
Do authorized card holders get the companion pass benefit as well?
Only the Primary cardholder gets to designate companions.
Dan, what would be the best option to fly NYC (or PHL) – MCO for pesach for a group of 50 using this card?
When is the annual $75 travel credit actually credited to your account? Does one have to wait until an entire year or is it automatically credited upon spending $4000/3 months?
If i have the ability to spend up to 8000 dollars, should i apply for the consumer and business to receive one companion and 90000 points or should me a wife both apply for the consumer getting only 60000 points but getting a companion pass for each of us to use for one of our children. which way would there be more value?
Is there anyway to find out if I’m a 5/24 victim before even applying? Hard to keep track

Pick any agency and look through your accounts to see when they were opened.
Can my wife use the companion pass and still take lap infant? In other words can me my wife and infant fly for price of one ?
Yes.
Got approved for card, just have one question. If i use my chase ink and buy southwest gc at 5x from staples, does that go towards the 110,000k points needed to extend the companion pass?
When I search that ewr to San Diego it tells me 16k points not 6
Just tried applying under 2 businesses and both got messages that application has to be reviewed. Called Chase and they said I will hear from them within 7-10 business days. Does this usually mean I was denied? Anything I can do? I was just approved for the Spark Card (300k offer) a couple of months ago, and usually have no problem getting instant approved.
Hi all,
I just received the Southwest Rapid rewards card but it doesn’t say anywhere in the agreement, anything about a companion pass. How do I know I have it?
Cancelled SW Consumer Plus card before the deadline. Applied for the SW Consumer Priority card also before deadline for this offer. Rec’d letter of denial due to existing card. Called and was told card must be closed at least thirty days before applying for new one. HUCA with same result. Went to chase branch and rec’d same info. Is this the new normal?
Did anyone get the companion pass yet? I just hit the 4,000 mark and I’m wondering how long it will take. They said 8 weeks but by then I think I’ll be too pregnant to fly!
Just wanted to say “thank you” for providing this info. I just got our companion pass and my husband and I are very grateful for the savings this will provide in getting to see the grandkids (and maybe getting away just for us). Thanks again!
Did anyone’s companion pass get extended until the end of this year? Mine now shows an ending date of 12/31/2020. No spend or flying was done…
