Why get a real camera if you have a smartphone?
A baby deer was born in my front yard and this picture was taken of it with a Galaxy phone:
When I got home later, I took a picture of it with the telephoto lens on my Sony a6000:
I haven’t edited these pictures at all. You can tell the difference in quality that you can get from a phone’s camera versus a mirrorless camera.
I’ve been using the A6000 for several years and love it, it takes fantastic pictures very quickly. The quality of pictures in low-light situations and with zoom are far better than from even the most advanced smartphones. And I can easily transfer the pictures to my phone over WiFi or even use my phone as a remote with the phone displaying the camera screen. The electronic viewfinder also does wonders when it’s sunny out.
Mirrorless digital cameras offer SLR type performance and sensor size in a compact and intuitive package. In fact it even does things better than an SLR, such as video. It’s bigger than the point and shoot you might be used to, but the pictures it takes are just incredible. In a pinch it can still fit into your pocket even with the 16-50 lens on, something that can’t be done with an SLR.
What kind of camera do you use?
Going back and forth between a great A6000 deal on a camera from 2014 and the a6400 for under $1K. Hoping something pops up in next week to bring that price down!!
I’m also in the market and looking more at the 6100 why do you prefer 6400?
Was better when it was $94 on Prime Day…
Good times, but hard to compete with a price mistake 😀
Here is a great affordable lense I use to go with the a6000 that takes amazing portraits (blurred background):

Is this the same as the Sony Alpha ILCE-6000L/B a6000 Digital Camera with 16-50mm Lens Bundle with Accessory Bundle (Black) offered on amazon for the same price? on amazon i can get 5% back with amazon card, but want to confirm i am not missing something. thanks

Is it ?
Worth it to buy or wait for newer version to go on sale?
Buy it now; if you have a credit card with Price Protection (*if the price drops, the CC will refund you the diff) use that. You can always return it – amazon will take it back, unopened; at most you pay the cost of return shipping ~$6.
If the price drops, you can chat Amazon support to cover the difference if it’s within a few weeks.
Keep your eye on an affordable deal with the newer version!
IIRC, Price Protection benefit has been removed from all CC. The Chase IHG card is the last one I know to have PP but that’s also discontinued last week.
Do you happen to know any CC that still offer price protection?
Also, Amazon price adjustment maybe YMMV. I had to return and rebuy even after three online chats; all declined my request for price adjustment.

True, Amazon Chat wouldn’t refund the videos my 5 year old purchased. Yet, last week I had a different agent who refunded the original (different video) purchase and the promotional credits from my account.
YMMV indeed.
@Dan you need to update the example pictures. The phone you used then is long out of date.
