  3. Shmuly

    Dan, do you have anything up your sleeves for an all in one deal?

  4. NJMACMAN

    I can use a 17″ laptop deal.

    @Anonymous:
    So, in otherwords, Microsoft agrees that windows 8 was a downgrade. By lowering the standard they are able to charge more for what used to be the basic standard.

    Who is buying now desk top? what is the split between desk/ lap?

  7. Windows 8

    @agree:

    Windows 8 (certainly 8.1) is an upgrade in everything EXCEPT the UI.

    The startup time is literally seconds, the security is top notch, and the overall speed is fantastic.

    Unfortunately, they dumped metro tiles into it and took away the start button. If you are just a bit savvy, you can re-enable the start button and disable the metro tiles, thus giving you the complete Windows 7 experience + the top notch speed of Windows 8.

    Unfortunately, the out-of-the-box UI is a turn-off for many.

    I say to everyone, get Windows 8.1, pay less, and simply add this program to your system: Classic Shell

    http://www.classicshell.net/

    It is FREEWARE and makes the desktop back to Win 7. Don’t pay more for Win 7! Chas V’shalom!

    First Thanks Dan for this and all deals you bring us! I ordered this yesterday thru your link and got charged $674 + tax for the above with Windows 8.1, wondering why it wasn’t $614 as you wrote, Dan any idea? I didn’t add on anything.

  14. Yoel

    Gotcha Dan. still saved $100+ off the retail stores thanks to your alert…was looking to buy this at $825 on TigerDirect.
    BTW Dell still has it on special today at $699.

  15. Mendy

    @Yoel:

    The current special is for the i5 processor. Yesterday’s special was for the upgraded i7.
