-Summary Of Dates For Barclaycard USAirways Card Benefits That Are Ending And Starting
————————————————————————
The US Airways® Premier World MasterCard® is being discontinued and for a limited time is offering a 50,000 point signup bonus.
You only need to spend $1 to get the signup bonus.
One of the unique features of the card is the discounts it gets you on award travel.
From now until the USAirways mileage program is merged with American’s (expected in the 2nd quarter of next year) it will give cardholders a 5,000 mile discount when flying USAirways.
Once the merger is complete it will switch to offering a 10% mileage rebate of up to 10K miles per year.
Need more USAirways miles? You can transfer 20K Starwood Starpoints into 25K USAirways miles. Names don’t even have to match to make a transfer!
Here is the USAirways award chart for travel on USAirways: (They also have a OneWorld Award Chart and an Other Partner Award Chart)
(Rates are for round-trip saver award travel after the 5K cardholder discount)
Round-trip rates from North America to: | Coach Saver | First Saver | Coach Saver Off-Peak | First Saver Off-Peak |
---|---|---|---|---|
US49/Canada | 20K | 45K | - | - |
Caribbean | 30K | 55K | 20K | 45K |
Mexico/Central America | 30K | 55K | - | - |
Hawaii | 35K | 75K | - | - |
South America | 55K | 95K | 30K | 55K |
Europe | 55K | 95K | 30K | - |
Tel Aviv | 75K | 115K | - | - |
Off-peak for the Caribbean is in September and off-peak for Europe is 01/15-02/28.
That makes for some pretty sweet bargains. You can fly from any US city, but the non-stops to Europe leave from Charlotte, Philadelphia, or Phoenix. If you want to fly from NYC just search for flights from LGA and it will search for the optimal routing.

You can even connect from Munich to Tel Aviv with 20K BA Avios:
dan, when the merger between usairways and aa is complete will the miles of usairways turn into aa miles?
@Geoff:
Yes.
That is expected to happen in Q2 2015.
Dan, how long should I wait to apply for a 2nd card?
Is aa miles better to fly to Europe then us airways
When is off peak for south America?
How do you book this?
@Dan,
please answer this @Sam that yes, AA is better.
AA off peak to Europe is only 20K
and off peak is for more than just 1 1/2 months.
let’s help the noobs.
thank you
do you recommend applying for any other card at the same time or is that not an issue here?
@John:
Probably 30 days.
@Sam:
Depends.
AA has a longer off-peak period (10/15-05/15) where it’s 40K round-trip.
USAir has a shorter off-peak period, but it’s only 30K.
USAir charges 5K less for business.
@south america:
Don’t see one listed currently.
@M:
usairways.com
@mh:
You can apply for this one first and later that same day for another if you want.
Still will be one pull and you’ll be sure to prioritize this as it’s a limited time offer.
Any option with a good miles deal to continue to TLV from one of these European destination.
@dan applied was told when called recon that can’t approve a 2nd card bec already have the product they didn’t want to guarantee if I close they would approve… Any ideas? Thnx!
@sam:
AA is less $$ for taxes. Lhr on AA$197 vs $247…
@dan also if I have the aa card when they merge will I get us airways benefits? Free bag etc?
I got the US airways 50k for me & my wife!
I know miles will merge – but what happens when the whole merger takes effect to the actual Credit card?
Will it be rebranded to an AA card?
Dan – question on seperate note .. I I have a US air CC can I apply for another 1?
Thank you
Love your website!

Are there any deals from TLV?
@shauly i assume its (ba) avious being a short haul…
@Avi:
Read the post.
@Chuck:
Downgrade/close and report back what happens?
@mh:
It will be a Barclays AA card.
@Shlomo:
Some people have been able to get instant approval, but it’s tough with Recon if you already have one.
Might want to downgrade it to another card before applying.
@Duddy:
Depends on many factors.
@shauly:
British Airways.
@Dan:
I was by your seminar in CH an don’t remember exactly what you said about it
I got approved for the Barclays us airways would you recommend I should close it an apply again to get the points in 30 since I closed it ?
@Dan:
How can I use British airways points from ny to Montreal if British airways don’t fly from my to Montreal ?
@ dan thnx u knw wat card it downgrades to?
Anyone know off hand what the chamge /cancellation policy is for US award tickets?
What is the US Airways policy for award change/cancellation?
@hi
ba codeshares with any one world partner and other non alliance partners such as alaska and aer lingus
@dan i downgraded to us airways cc and called recon they said only one us airways product and would look suspicious to close within the 7 months… any ideas? huca?
@dan called again they said small chance if close and reapply but most prob not cause of terms of card 1 bonus per card…..
are you aware if they would or have waved the annual fee for a 1st time applicant?
i have a Citi AA card – after they merge, will the points be combined or are they going to stand as 2 separate accounts?

Does US Airways have any good off peak deals to Asia?
Dan, just for clarification – I have about 120k miles on my Citi AA account, so signing up with this should bump up the account to about 170+k when they merge?
So why would someone get this card rather then just go for the American airlines one? I see the aa one has 0 first year cost.
dan you said there are nonstops from PHX to Europe?
i don’t know of any
Looks like the search doesn’t work if you add in an infant(either seated or lap) – how should we proceed to add an infant to the reservation?
