Kan-Israel Public Broadcasting is reporting that Emirates has received final approval to fly into Tel Aviv! They say that the first flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv will take place in January 2021:

Hopefully, Emirates new kosher kitchen will open in time for the new flights!

Emirates only flies 777s and A380s, so they will add a ton of capacity to Tel Aviv. I’d assume they will start with the 777, which does not feature the shower suite, but could expand to the A380 if there is sufficient demand.

Israir hopes to fly between Tel Aviv and Dubai next month.

There’s no word yet on Etihad’s plans to fly between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv or El Al’s plans to fly between Abu Dhabi or Dubai and Tel Aviv, but those are all but certain to happen eventually.

Emirates will open up excellent connections from Israel to Asia and the South Pacific. Flying from Israel to the Maldives or Australia should be much more convenient than it is now.

Flying from the US to Tel Aviv via Dubai would add a considerable amount of time.

A nonstop flight from JFK to Tel Aviv takes about 10.5 hours, a connecting flight via Europe takes between 13-16 hours, while a flight via Dubai would likely take 18 or 19 hours. However you can break up that trip with a stopover in the UAE. Back in 2017 I flew Emirates Shower Class to the Maldives via Dubai and stopped over for a couple days in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Dubai and Abu Dhabi make for a great stopover for a few days!

Will you fly Emirates to or from the holy land?

No, but I will update when it is.

  1. ...

This will make the nyc dxb flight that much harder to find availability in business or first

    Will they fly to JFK-TLV-DXB?

I can see the hidden city ticket option…

        • Dan

Because neither the US nor Israel will approve.

          • Tavster

They wouldn’t approve in order to defend their local airlines?

It’s like saying with Air Canada fly from MIA to ATL to Toronto

Not exactly there are such routes for example
        EZE-GRU-LON on BA

    • Dan

You could already do that if you switched airlines. Not going to happen on Emirates all the way.

Which miles should I start working on collecting for a Emirites shower class flight involving TLV from NYC(all major airports)?

Unbelievable how quickly things move! Had you posted this on April 1st, we would’ve thought it’s a joke.
Just think how quickly the גאולה can be!

Emirates is acquiring 787s and A350s I highly doubt that they’ll have a need for an A380 on this route
They will probably add multiple flights a day if the demand and capacity is there before they’ll use the A380

Emirates competing with El Al on this route is like the 1996 Chicago Bulls going up against the 1962 Mets
