Update: This offer is scheduled to end at some point tomorrow, now is the last chance for this highest offer ever on the Southwest cards.

Signup offer and anniversary bonus:
For a limited time only, The Chase Southwest Plus and the Chase Southwest Premier card are both offering 60,000 points for spending $2,000 within 3 months. The Chase Southwest Premier Business card is offering 60,000 points for spending $3,000 within 3 months and is offered as an option at the bottom of the consumer Plus and Premier card applications.
You can view credit card offers by clicking on the “Other Credit Cards” tab on top of the DansDeals banner to view links for card offers. You can click on the banner that says “View limited time card offers” and scroll down to view all card offers from the bank of your choice.
-The Plus card has a $69 annual fee and gives 3,000 points every card anniversary.
-The Premier cards have a $99 annual fee and give 6,000 points every card anniversary.
Southwest cards are subject to 5/24.
The value of Southwest points are variable based on the fare.
For example:
-A one-way San Francisco-Las Vegas nonstop flight on 6/20 is $28.98 with tax. It can also be bought for 990 points plus $5.60 tax. So 990 points gets you a value of $23.38 ($28.98 airfare less the $5.60 tax on the points ticket), imputing a value of 2.36 cents (23.38/990) per point.
-A one-way LaGuardia-Chicago nonstop flight on 9/6 is $59.98 with tax. It can also be bought for 3,067 points plus $5.60 tax. So 3,067 points gets you a value of $54.38 ($59.98 airfare less the $5.60 tax on the points ticket), imputing a value of 1.77 cents (54.38/3,067) per point.
-A one-way LaGuardia-Denver nonstop flight on 8/29 is $98.98 with tax. It can also be bought for 5,679 points plus $5.60 tax. So 5,679 points gets you a value of $93.38 ($98.98 airfare less the $5.60 tax on the points ticket), imputing a value of 1.64 cents (93.38/5,679) per point.
Free changes and cancellations. Lock in low fares with no penalty:
While other mileage currencies charge up to $200 to cancel an award ticket, Southwest continues to allow you to cancel an award flight and redeposit the points in your account for future use without any penalties.
Coupled with 2 free carry-ons and 2 free checked bags per person, that’s a lot of added value. A family of 4 needing to cancel award tickets on another airline would set you back $400-$800 versus it being a free change on Southwest. A family of 4 checking 2 bags each would run $480 round-trip on another airline versus paying nothing on Southwest.
Thinking of taking a trip but not 100% sure about it? With Southwest points you can lock in a good rate and just cancel the trip free of charge at any point before the flight if you can’t make it!
You can use the points for yourself or book award tickets for anyone else you want to give a ticket to.
Don’t fly?
You can also use 60,000 points to get $600 worth of gift cards to places like Alamo, Amazon, Avis, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Bloomingdales, Brooks Brothers, Budget, Carnival Cruises, Express, Fairmont, Gap, Hertz, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, Macy’s, National, Nike, Saks, Sea World, Shutterfly, Staples, Starbucks, Target, The Children’s Place, Toys R Us, TJMaxx, Walmart, Zappos and more.
Southwest allows you to redeem points for any seat on any flight. There are no blackout dates or capacity controls.
When Southwest has a fare sale the amount of points go on sale as well as it tracks to the price of the ticket. Best of all Southwest will refund your points if the price of your award ticket falls! Just rebook your trip online for the same dates or give them a call for the credit.
You get 1 point per dollar on regular purchases and 2 points per dollar on Southwest purchases, including hotel and car rentals via Southwest.
Companion pass:
You can get a free companion pass if you earn 110,000 points in a year from select sources, including earnings from credit card signups and credit card spending! If you earn 110,000 Southwest points in 2017 the pass will be good until 12/31/18. The pass allows you to bring a companion with you for free whenever you fly Southwest, even if you are flying on a free ticket! There is no limit to the number of free companion flights that you can take.
If you open 2 Southwest cards and meet the spending bonus you will qualify for the companion pass.
And as always, Southwest:
-Gives 2 free checked bags per passenger.
-Does not charge change fees to switch your flight. Whether you are on a paid or an award flight you can change without penalty!
-Does not charge a cancellation fee to cancel your flight (you will get Southwest credit for the full amount paid, even on non-refundable wanna get away fares) or to cancel and redeposit your award flight.
-Refunds the fare or point difference if the price of your flight goes down after you buy it, just call to get the credit at any time before your flight!
Again, a day later than DoC
@Jay:
Wednesday and Thursday was the Jewish holiday of Shavuos, when I log off from all electronics and spend time with family and friends.
I’m catching up today on what I missed while I was offline.
5/24?
@Anonymous:
Click on the link in the post.
Do I have this correct:
1) the difference between the plus and the premier is $30 annual fee and 3,000 bonus points on anniversary?
2) These cards do not come automatically w companion, have to earn 110k points..with the 60k bonus, essentially need an addition 50,000 points, correct?
@jb:
1. Correct.
2. Correct, or you would earn it if you get 2 of the SWA cards.
You have to spend $3000 in the first 3 months? The website says $2000
@Szm:
$2,000 consumer/$3,000 business.
@dan is the biz southwest card also subject to 5/24 ?
@ben:
That’s what the post says. Click on that link for the only mileage cards not subject to 5/24.
Dan,
I can apply for the 2 personal card at the same time? and will the hard inquires combine?
Thanks!
Why do the legacy airlines adopt a model more similar to Spirit instead of Southwest?
@Kay:
Yes and yes.
@Jeremy:
I guess they figure that it’s more profitable.
Southwest looks pretty great for your average traveler these days.
Question… I have 1 other partner at work. If we do the business credit card and we share it for the busienss, who gets the “companion”? Is it subject to one person, or as long as flight is booked using the mileage account its fine? how would this work?
tx
@dan how often can you get a signup bonus for sw card? is it once per lifetime?
This is a great deal! One of the most pleasant airlines to deal with. I would jump on this now but gonna wait till mid Oct so that I can earn my companion pass in early 2018 and maximize it for almost 2 full years. That should be more valuable than the extra 20k points for me
Just to make sure I understand, while both the business and personal cards are subject to the 5/24 rule to get accepted, if I apply for the business card, it’s not considered as one of the 5 cards for future Chase cc applications, correct?
@JB:
The business card must be opened in someone’s name and they need to travel to bring a companion.
@ben:
24 months from the last time you got the bonus, though if you open a new Southwest account there shouldn’t be any time limit…
@Adam:
That’s assuming there is a 50K/60K offer around then.
But yes, they have become a real bright spot for the airline industry.
@5/24:
Correct.
can i apply for two business cards at the same time? If so, and I receive 60k points for each, they will allow 120k points to go into the same account; it wont be flagged?
Yes true the offer is normally 40k but there are always links for at least a 50k offer that are easy to find so even 2 of those cards woth the min spend for the bonus would put me almost there
Great offers but petrified of signing up for any CCs with Chase.
Dan. if I signed up for the plus card on tues for the 40000 point bonus, but was approved for the card today. Can I get the 60000 point bonus if I spend the extra 1000$?
If I get one card and my wife gets one card cab we join accounts to get to the 110k mark
any idea on when this offer may end? ty
If I have the regular southwest and upgraded to premier card , will they honor this offer ?
How do I get the $600 in gift cards by signing up for this card?
@JJ:
Send an SM and ask to be matched.
@Thanks Dan:
No
@sam:
No
@Sam p:
For which card?
@Sara:
Just login in Southwest.com to redeem for then.
@Dan: Thank you Dan 🙂 If I spend the$2,000 right away, will the points be issued shortly after, or do I have to wait 3 months to get the points, so I can redeem the gift cards? Also, is it fairly simple to do on their website, or will I need help? If I have never redeemed points for gift cards…? In addition, are the points in themselves valuable to sell or is the gift card a better trade off?
@dan- will they honor offer for 60,000 points?
if I had a southwest $69 per year card and closed it in 2/2015 can I open a $69 cc again? or does it have to be the $99?
@Anonymous:
The points will post with the first statement after you complete the spending.
Very simple to redeem for gift cards.
The points are worth more for travel on Southwest, as outlined in this post.
@Lib:
You can get either again.
@Dan: Thank you DAN:)
@dan Can I sign up for a personal and a business to hit the 110k mark, quickly?
Also, does anyone know if this is the highest bonus they offer?
@G:
You can.
@G:
It is.
@Dan, Me again. If one were to sign up for 2 cards, is it best to wait between applications, or sign up closer together?
Thanks!
I’m new to the world of rewards cards. I signed up and was approved for the Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards card. Is this the same thing? Will I get the 60k bonus points?
Approved for SW Business Card. No 5/24 enforced.
What if you already have a Southwest Credit card?
Limited Time Offer banner is not there. http://www.dansdeals.com/creditcards-com
@Beverley Lewin:
There are 3 flavors of the card.
@Nate:
If you turn off your ad-blocker then you should see it.
Would a balance transfer earn points?
to confirm, i can sign up for both the plus and premier in my name and receive 120k points total all for 1 credit pull if done at the same time, correct?
Can you confirm that I could apply for both the southwest premier and plus card and get a bonus on each assuming im good with the 5/24 rule? thx!
@aaron:
Correct.
@Dan: even if they are both personal cards?
Dan-I get out of 5/24 Mid July. If i get declined today can i appeal with reconsideration dept after im free of 5/24 within 30 days in few weeks and if approved will i still get the 60k ty
is this offer still live?
I tried to apply for two southwest personal credit cards within the same week. I was accepted on the first and denied on the second. I spoke to the underwriters and they said they will only issue one per person of this card. I could apply for a business account but the points would be in separate cards. Could I transfer points from both cards to my rapid rewards account and be eligible for the companion flight ? or how is that done?
Hello.
thank you for all of your help.
where is the link for the 60k bonus? I am only finding 40k.
thank you.
@blimie: did you apply for 1 plus and 1 premier, or 2 of the same? You could definitely apply for the business and combine the points for a companion pass. Just be prepared to call business reconsideration if you get a denial letter. And try to call recon 30 days after being approved for you other card
@Dans Fans: it should work, and you will always get the offer you applied for. Try to call as late as possible, as it may go till the end of the month
You can’t have 2 of the same exact card but you can get the Plus and Premier card, giving you 124k bonus points and the companion pass once min req spent is met. You can also apply for the business using the same RR account
Is this dead? Cant find the link?
How often do they have the 60k sight up bonus
