Chase is killing price protection as of 11/17 on Mastercards like the IHG Premier Mastercard, IHG Select Mastercard, United Club Mastercard, and the United Presidential Plus Mastercard.

Here is a dwindling list of cards that still offer price protection.

In its place will be cell phone insurance as of 11/17. The IHG Select card will get $600 of coverage while the other cards will get $800 of coverage with a $50 deductible.

Unfortunately, cell phone insurance doesn’t cover lost phones and it requires that you pay your monthly bill on the card that offers coverage.

The Chase Ink Cash Card offers 5 points per dollar on cell phone bills, making it a better option for your monthly bill, though it doesn’t have cell phone insurance.

The Chase Ink Preferred Card offers 3 points per dollar on cell phone bills and offers cell phone insurance.

Will these changes influence which card you’ll use for your cell phone bill?

What does the cell phone insurance cover? Accidental damage? Etc..?

Thing is, they don’t tell you if you need to have been using the required credit card (one that has Cell Phone Insurance), since the first bill that you received the new phone during. Logically you probably would, but is that the case? Doesn’t seem like any of the reps know for certain.

What is cell phone insurance? Will it cover accidental damage?

If you have a family plan, would it cover that amount per phone? Or would it just be either $600 or $800 per account?

If I purchase the phone using the card but pay my cell service bill with a different card, is it covered?

If I’m looking to get an airline credit card what do you recommend? My current cards are the Chase sapphire reserve, Freedom unlimited, Chase ink cash, and an AMEX everyday

Do ink plus cards have any protection? Chase consumer cards?
