You Can Now Access Your Costco Digital Membership Card On Your Phone, With A Catch
“Through the Costco Mobile App, you can access a digital version of your membership card. Costco’s app will also allow you to renew your membership and view your 2% reward balance for executive members on your phone.”
The only caveat is from the FAQ “Note: Currently the Digital Membership Card is not accepted at Costco Gas Stations.”
That means you can’t yet take your Costco card out of your wallet or purse if you buy your gas there. Note that in some states a membership is not required to access Costco’s Gas station.

By the way, in NY you don’t need a Costco card to buy gas at the Costco gas stations! They are required to sell to anyone. Only a regular credit card is needed. Try it!

Nope! New York State law does not allow them to restrict gas sales to their members. I tried it many times with just a regular visa or MasterCard

Oceanside requires you to insert membership card
But you need to take it out of your wallet to buy gas.
And in some places there’s no gas station

If you don’t use your Costco card you won’t get the cash back, which adds up very quickly
