To see if you have this offer just login to your AMEX account, click on any of your cards to go the activity page, click on “AMEX Offers For You,” and save the offer to your account as shown below:
If you also have multiple cards with the offer don’t rush to save the offer to your account! Open up the Offers page for each card in a separate tab in the same browser. Then go between the tabs to save the offer to each of your targeted cards. Otherwise once you save the offer to one card it disappears from your other cards.
You can also register your secondary cards for their own AMEX login and register each of those cards as well.
You can get $15 back for spending $100 on Staples.com, including the purchase of a $100 or $200 Visa gift card online.
E-gift cards that are emailed to you are excluded from this offer.
Of course you have to weigh the benefit versus using a Chase Ink Plus, Chase Ink Bold, or Chase Ink Cash card where you would earn 1% cash back plus 5 points per dollar spent.
The pin on the Visa gift card is the last 4 digits of the card number, no need to set anything.
-You can cash out the Visa cards using EvolveMoney to pay bills like your mortgage, property tax, auto loan, health insurance, store charge card (Gap, Macy’s, Target, etc). There is no fee for this but you can only make 1 payment per biller per month month.
-You can load Visa cards to your Serve card with a Family Dollar cashier for no fee.
-You can load Visa cards to your Bluebird or Serve card at a WalMart ATM machine for no fee.
-You can load Visa cards to your Bluebird or Serve card with a WalMart cashier or customer service for no fee. Just say you want to use your debit card, no need to mention that it’s a gift card.
-You can buy a money order with the Visa card at any store that accepts debit cards as payment (except the post office). Such stores exist even in manufactured spend deserts like NYC.
-You can pay your credit card bill at WalMart with BillPay at Customer Service.
-You can send the funds from the Visa card to a friend via Amazon Payments for no fee.
-You can swipe the card on an Amazon card reader for a 1.75% fee.
-You can gift a Visa gift card as a wedding gift instead of giving a check.
-You can just use the cards for your everyday spending to earn 5 points per dollar+1% cash back everywhere!
-You can… 😉
Now we’re left guessing forever at what the 😉 at the end is hinting… 😛
welcome back Dan. Thought it would be a jj day 🙂
Oh-for-ten, but I can’t really complain. I’ve done pretty well with AMEX Offers this year, as I’m sure many here have,
Not there 🙁 Any way to force the offer or make my account more likely to receive offers?
Not on any of the 4 cards I personally use but did have the offer on one authorized user card account.
Have it on all 4.
Don’t forget there are additional fees: $6.95 per card ($5.95 Purchase Fee + $1.00 Shipping Fee. So that’s approx. 4.0% savings on a $200 card and 8.0% on a $100 card.
Thanks. I had it on my 4 cards.
the $5 back on $25 Carters is also worth something (if you have small children)
No offer 🙁
@KosherKing:
Shipping fee? Become a staples reward member, free shipping.
Thanks Dan.
@Username, agreed. 4.5% savings on a $200 card and 9.1% on a $100 card.
So am I correct that “the best” thing you can do with this is buy a $100 gift card for $106, and essentially pay $91 for it (plus the value of your AMEX “points” on $91 in spend)?
Money’s money, but it’s a pretty modest deal. Of course, unloading that $100 gift card on Amazon Payments is pretty darn quick and easy.
You can also register your secondary cards for their own AMEX login and register each of those cards as well.
How do you create accounts for non American Express cards?
last time they had this deal, i registered both of my cards and both of my AU’s cards. however my AU did not get refunded and when i called they said its only one per account.
even though when i registered it said that it as been applied
Thanks for the heads up, Dan – I wouldn’t have otherwise checked and I had it on all of my cards! Quick question – since it says one use per *online account* rather than one use per card, I’m guessing it’s pretty cut & dry and no chances of successfully using it on 2 separate cards (each with the offer saved) that are on one amex online account?
It says int he fine print:
Limit 1 statement credit per American Express online account.
So how would it help to open each card in a separate tab and then save offer for each one?
It works on every card you save it too based on experience.
thanks! got 2.
1) Can you use the OneVanilla cards via Amazon Payments? Or just Visa GC?
2) Does that count towards the $1000/month credit card spending or no?
I called Amex, and they said that it is not valid on Visa gift cards. I even had them double check, and it was confirmed. Do you know otherwise? How? Thank you.
@AC:
Really u called Amex- how super intelligent.
@Dani Klein:
1. You can.
2. It does.
@AC:
It works fine, don’t rely on clueless phone reps for your info.
Dan: Thank you. Dani: No need to be snarky.
Is there a cap on filling up a serve card at a family dollar store
Re: “The pin on the Visa gift card is the last 4 digits of the card number, no need to set anything.”
Just got my $200 Gift Card,
Should I activate it or it just works with this last 4 digits pin?
Thank you 🙂
@Shimon.azar:
If you got the card at the store, it’s already activated at the register, if you got it through mail, you have to activate it. code is mailed separately. But you don’t have to ‘register’ it at the giftcard mall. that’s only if you want to track your balance and purchases.
AMAZON payments is ending on the 10th any other ways to send a friend money like amazon?
