Thanks to everyone who came out to #DDSJlem

You guys were a great crowd and the questions asked afterward were perhaps the sharpest overall from any seminar that I’ve done.

Over $5,000 was raised for Tzevet Hatzolah of Israel from ticket sales of the event!

After 14 seminars in the US it’s time to take things to the holy land (glitches help 😉 )

The 15th DansDeals seminar will be held in Jerusalem on Motzei Shabbos, March 7th at 8:30pm.

You can purchase tickets via this link.

Please note: The seminar will be given in English only. It is designed for Americans, and while there will be some tips for non-Americans, the content is heavily targeted towards Americans.

It will be located at the Nevat Yisrael, 24 Shmuel Hanavi St. in Jerusalem, Israel.

The cost of admission is $13. Light refreshments will be served.
As with all DansDeals seminars, the entire ticket price (after credit card processing fees) will be donated to charity. Ticket sales for this seminar will benefit Tzevet Hatzolah of Israel, the organizers of this event.
You will have to designate who will be attending as tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.

-Men and Women will be seated separately for this event.
-Men and Women ages 15 and older are welcome to attend, no kids or infants please.
Recording devices and photography of the slides are not allowed so be sure to bring something to take notes with!

Schedule (subject to change):
8:00pm: Doors open. Failure to show up by 8:30pm may result in your seat being given away to someone else.  A short video presentation of Hatzolah’s work will be shown at 8:15pm.
8:30pm-9:30pm: Seminar Part 1-Credit Cards and mileage earning on a beginner to intermediate level.
9:30pm-10:45pm: Seminar Part 2-More advanced tips and tricks for mileage redemption, paid flights, hotel stays, car rentals, etc.
10:45pm: Trivia and Q&A session.

-If you are a beginner: Hopefully you will learn a lot, but I cover many subjects in a relatively short period of time. Don’t feel bad if you don’t understand many things or if you start to feel lost, feel free to stay afterward and I’ll clarify them.  Or better yet start reading the DansDeals Forums where you can learn more about anything you want to know.  There won’t be time to explain most subjects at length, so take good notes of the concepts, and read more about them after the seminar on DansDeals.com and on the DansDeals Forums

-If you are on an intermediate level: You may know of many of the concepts I talk about but you should still learn more than enough to make attending worth your time and effort.

-If you are on an expert level: You probably already know most or all of what I’m going to talk about so feel free to attend, but don’t expect 2.5 hours of new information, it may be a complete waste of your time.  Some experts have told me that it was worthwhile, others have said it was not, I guess it depends on what kind of expert you are :)

Seating is limited so book your ticket first and then tell your friends ;)

Looking forward to attending with my 12 Colleagues

  2. chulentandkugel

Dan will you be giving a seminar on the way to Israel. If so how much is a seat? I prefer window or aisle seats. TIA

  3. Yair

wanted to be the first to register, but the link’s not coming up!

  4. Anonymous

hey Dan, which glitch brought you to the Holy Land on the 7th?

  5. RealJew

Mayb you should uze the holy name for our holy sity? Jerusalem is the loshon of the oyvdei koychavim. Yerushalayim is the name that the Riboynoy Shel Oylam wants us to use for his sity.

  6. Fg

The link for buying tickets is not coming up!

  7. Fg

Yes i clicked that link and keep getting the message that the network connection was lost… But i dont have any network issues!

  8. Dan

Seems to work for me and people are buying tickets.

    Try another computer/internet connection?

  9. Josh

    @Dan:
I’m in Israel and the link is being blocked by bezek because they say it’s unsafe

  10. Yair

come on dan, it’s not like I asked “will this work from EWR to LHR”…give us some credit. It worked when I used my US IP proxy server, maybe something is going on with security for overseas IP’s…

  11. AharonInIsrael

Hurry! I just got a premium ticket for only 85 DKK!

  12. Yair

@RealJew: how about we compromise on al-quds? or how about aelia capitolina? Or maybe we just understand that “Jerusalem” is as close to the Hebrew name in English as you’re going to get?

  13. Ron

@RealJew:You make a good point, but it would come across a lot better if you would spell-check your message before submitting it. 😉

  14. dovi

I am trying to buy a ticket but it isnt working for me when I click on pay by credit card it doesn’t load

  15. Yair

@Dan: I think using Hola in your browser (if you’re using chrome) will do the trick.

  16. Fg

Interesting… i am in israel now and it doesn’t work on my computer but worked on my phone after a few attempts.

  17. Moshe

Got my ticket! Really looking forward!

  18. JJ

    Dan-

Do you have any interest in making a second seminar in Ramat Beit Shemesh?

If yes I can try to organize a place.

Motzei Shabbos can be rough to get to Jerusalem.

    Thanks

  19. Anonymous

Dan on previous glitch post you mentioned to choose multi-destination which I always assumed means to originate in one city and have last leg in another city; however from the examples you gave it appears multi-destination can also mean origination and terminating in the same city with multiple other cities in between?

  20. Moe

great news! but why moitze purim??

  21. RaphiMtl

    @fg

For people who can’t get to the page because they’re in Israel (seems to be getting blocked somewhere along the route) use Hola (Chrome Plugin) and use US proxy.

  22. ji

DAN!!!! Please come to baltimore next!

  23. zj

What airline are you taking to the Holy Land? The $375 Russian one? You should have arrtanged a Dan’d deals charter flight with a seminar on board. Maybe next time?

  25. Abe

  34. YY

Hey Dan…most important here…So, HOW are you flying to the Holy Land?

  35. chosid

can I partcipate via skype? maybe set up live – hookup online for the same or a little less price, for those unable to attend. you wont lose any american clients as they will still be in middle of shabbos…

  36. heavenlyjane

Nachi asked the question that was on my mind. I’d like to encourage my expat American friends to attend but I am pretty certain they do not have US-based addresses, which are required for the CC offers that I take advantage of. Will this seminar be beneficial to them?

  37. Tamar

By March probably tha Shabbos will be over at 7:00 o’clock or later is this possible to make it on time from Tel Aviv

  38. issamar ginzberg

Just got my ticket. Last time in monsey i had a tix but didn’t end up attending. Looking forward to finally meeting you!

  44. Yavia

Someone should make a Siyum at the event. Make it a Seudas mitzvah!

  45. Ron

@Dan: Amazing! I never knew you had a mobile site. My eyes thank you, Dan (and David)!

  46. David

    @Dan:
But when I’m pressing on a link I get via text can I set up it should go automatically to mobile site ?

  47. Al Lakeman

I cannot wait to attend!!!! question; is the ticket expense a tax write off ?

  48. m65

i bought 2 tickets in my name is that an issue?

  49. smicha bocher

Dear dan. I booked an insane trip for this summer thanks to your info. I’m going CX -LAX-HKG in First. And onto BKK in Business.
(Doing some paid fare tix intra Aisia) and returning to YYZ on AC in Business. Reading your reviews on CX I’m very excited. Also looking into your trip reports and on ddf for other great info. Thanks so much for all your great and informative work. Got about 11 cents value per mile…

  50. Achshell

Reb Don, I am wondering if you are planing a post about the AMEX – Costco parting ways. Is it so that Amex are very desperate now? Please share a post about it. Thanks

  51. bsw

I’m fascinated that you’re giving an Israel seminar. Please post photos of event online.

  56. Rado

    Hi Dan,

Do you plan to have a seminar around Seattle or West Coast area this year?

I learned and saved a lot from your shared knowledge, but sometimes I think that I am missing some details… I would like to learn these missing pieces from your seminar, so it would be great if you stop by Seattle sometimes in the future.

    Thanks,
    Rado

  57. Refael

does anyone know if the location is handicap accessible? I’m in an electrical wheelchair and cannot do any steps at all.

  58. BEN TORAH 613

Where will you be for pesach?

  60. muti

@ben torah 613 you bored yeshivah bocher cant you just find something smart to say im seriuos

  61. yosef

Is there a break between part one and two I can only stay for part one just wondering if I have to leave in middle of you speaking

  62. Jack

Yeah @bentorah 613, I think your right, Dan- you could’nt make it a different Motzei Shabbos?! Right after Purim getting the high from Purim into this…. Comon!

  63. Dan

Blah, blah, blah, kvetch, kvetch, kvetch.

People have been asking me to do one in Israel for years. I’m coming to Israel for Purim and one shabbos. I did it motzei shabbos so as not to interfere with the seder in any yeshiva. I’m giving everything from the seminar to tzedoka without accounting for my own expenses.

Seriously, what do you want from me already?
At least wait to kvetch and ask for a refund after the seminar when you see that its directed towards Americans because you didn’t read the bolded red print in this post.

  64. shevet dan

Ten lee harefund achshav achashav lifnei haevent.
Achar haevent kvar ganavta hakesef memenee, aval ani rotzeh
    harefund achshav achshav.

Ma hachesbon litvoah harefund achar shkver sheelamtee??

  65. yossi

Is there any glitch to get out of paying?

  66. Mark

Thank you Dan for all that you do.

  67. yed

    Does separate seating mean “Mechitza”separation?
    or just opposite sides etc.?

  68. Dan

    @yed:
I leave those details up to the organizer. Feel free to reach out to tzevet hatzolah.

  69. RebYid

    “tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.”
“Failure to show up by 8:30pm may result in your seat being given away to someone else.”

Dan’s gone over to the other side?

  70. dm

If I don’t have an American credit card, is it worthwhile for me to come?

    And thanks, Dan!

  71. yed

@Dan: Thanks for your prompt reply,
can you give me any contact details?
(you might want to send it by email)

  72. Arsen

    Dan,

You’ve got to do a seminar in San Jose/Silicon Valley. I think the attendance would be great as there is a ton of IT consultants who fly a lot and would definitely benefit from your advice.

  73. Anonymous

Are there any coupon codes or glitches to get in cheaper?

  74. Q

Would GCM via STPL stop selling for BB reason?

  75. carageenan

I am trying to book tickets on my laptop but when I click on pay by credit card it just circles round and round. How can I book?

  76. BM

When you say that this is geared towards Americans, do you mean people who live here and have US credit cards and bank accounts, or towards people who are living or returning to live in the US in the near future?

  77. yitzchok

it says sold out, still need 2 seats

  78. Rabbi G

@Dan I’m wanna buy tickets but it doesn’t go through..

  79. Ikey

DAN, Ah frielechen Purim. All year Purim !! 🙂

  80. avraham s

Anyone want to carpool from ramat beit shemesh?

  81. Eli

Will credit cards be accepted at the door for the $18/70nis?

  82. Mike B

Why separate men and women? What kind of Sharia law supporter are you?

  83. Ben

    Smashing success thank you dan

  84. m65

gr8 seminar, enjoyed it very much

  85. moishman

    @Mike B:
Something called Halacha… hope this is the last comment on this issue…

  86. mo

nu @Dan, tell us how the jerusalem seminar compared to the US ones?

  87. Anonymous

    @moishman:

It is something sexist and archaic, no matter what excuse is behind it. Te women are expected to serve in the army and carry weapons, but they have the be separated for a travel seminar? Where is the logic in that?

  88. av

we need a seminar in brooklyn
    thanks

  89. Dan

    @Anonymous:
About half of the DD seminars have had family style seating and half have had separate seating only.

I don’t make those decisions, they’re made by the organizations that put together each seminar based on the religious makeup of the community they are held in.

A little tolerance goes a long way, live and let live is my motto.

    @av:
There have already been half a dozen seminars in Brooklyn.

  90. jeremy

    Dan,

any chance for a seminar in Washington Heights?

you get a large crowd from the younger (and older crowd living in the heights) as well as the YU/Stern students and some from the UWS and perhaps the UES of manhattan

  91. Dumb

who is Tsevet Hatzlah in Israel?
Dan, beware in Israel there are many bogus organisations unfortunately….

  92. av

    @dan
WE need more, i’m sure it will be a success

  93. avraham s

Great seminar, thanks Dan, quick question, can you post a link regarding the hotel price gauranty deal to get a free room? I am not sure I got all the info.

  94. Yair

@Dumb: Zsevet Hatzalah is a legit organization, they work with Magen David Adom and serve as paramedics and first responders. It’s one of 2 organizations that came out of the breakup of Hazalah, the other being Ichud Hazalah.

  95. mo

@Dan: ” the sharpest overall from any seminar ”
please share some of those sharp questions?

  96. DR

JUST WANTED TO THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME BE ABLE TO VISIT MY FAMILY – WITHOUT YOUR TIPS I WOULD NOT HAVE ACCUMULATED THE NECESSARY MILES TO BE ABLE TO FLY AS NEEDED

  97. Me

    Well done!!!
When are you gonna make one In France???

  98. J

    Dan,
I was at the seminar and still have a few questions? Is it possible to ask you them in a private message??

  99. Shmuel

Where can I find all the /go/ links? I dont believe you showed that slide at the end wit the list. Thanks

  100. Lee Gvulam

@Dan: ” the sharpest overall from any seminar ”
    Avira d’E.Y. Machkim….
Also, for many Anglos living in EY flying is a basic need and not a luxury, while budgets are often tight. This seminar for them was vital, not a nice pastime or recreation. Since it means more to them, sharper questions were, naturally, to be expected.

  101. meir

missed this one, please have another one in israel!!

  102. nati

was it possible to lock in 5 dollars a day for as many days as you want when you won name your own price on a rental car?
