anyone confirmed what status starwoods is matching?
well just on the phone with starwoods platinum not unattainable through a match it has to be earned but they’ll happily upgrade you to gold so for all of you that are no yet gold take advantage now!
Be warned that when you match once, the airline/hotel program will be less willing to make concessions to you for future status upgrades. i.e think twice before status matching to an airline or chain that you have no intention of maintaining business with for the coming year, because when you want the status again later they may not give it.
also starwood matched the status from the Hyatt Gold Passport program’s free platinum status that was posted on this site.
starwood will happily match platinum status pretty much only hilton diamond status

yoko : very simple if you have an elite status in a program either an airline or a hotel chain you can get another program to match your benefits example: you get platinum status with hyatt , you can then call up starwoods or any other hotel chain and they will in most cases upgrade you to their own comparable status in the starwood hyatt case hyatt platinum=starwoods gold. most programs require proof .
