I have premium, and it’s awesome. Makes life very very easy.

  2. sam

what happens after the year? your passports are lost and invalid?

  3. Daddy

Does this work on a phone too?

  4. milechazzer

Is this only application-based? Do you need to have the application installed on every computer that youd wish to log in from?

  5. Chaim

@sam: No, you can continue to use for free but you won’t have the premium features such as the ability to use it on a mobile device.

  6. Chaim

@milechazzer: Using the browser add-on will allow last pass to automatically fill in credentials on websites, but you don’t need to install it if you don’t want to, you can simply log in to your last pass account and copy and paste user names and passwords, however I recommend using the browser add on, it is very convenient.

I have last pass and I LOVE it it makes managing all my passwords so easy

  8. z

why are they asking me for my cc?

  9. sha

@z because of the auto renewing membership.

It’s a great product, having used it for years, but this deal is only for new customers – they’re NOT allowing it for current users to extend their subscriptions.

  11. Jay

FYI – not only is it not valid for current Premium users to extend their subscriptions, but even if you have a free (non-premium) lastpass account, it won’t get you a year of premium – it has to be a *brand new* account that you create and then get a free year of premium.

I can understand the limitation on the first, but for people who have never upgraded and aren’t current premium users?

@JoeShmoe – re: the 6 month link – “Sorry, this campaign has expired.”

  13. yesitsme

@dan please update that its only for new users, they took off the current user promo.

  14. Mpoll

How do you feel this compares to 1password?

  15. jason

ive had basic lastpass for two years now and they aren’t letting me get this promotion now .

  16. Sha

@mpoll 1password is definitely nicer and more feature complete. However, it’s more expensive upfront – esp if you have Windows and Mac, plus their linux solution is outdated.

Bottom line, if you only have Mac **or** Windows (and iOS) then 1Password is a no-brainer. The only downside is the upfront cost instead of the subscription model.
If you have multiple desktop OS that you need support for then LastPass is better.
