I get constant complaints from people who subscribe to the daily email digest of deals posted on DansDeals that the deals are dead by the time they get the email the following day.
That’s why I recommend following @DansDeals on Twitter to get instantly alerted of every deal.
Lots of people have asked for a step-by-step guide to get text messages when there is a deal. Here’s how to do it via Twitter. This whole process will just take a few minutes and you’ll never have to logon to Twitter again if you don’t want to.
Step 1: Signup for a free Twitter account. (Once you setup this quick process there will be no need to visit Twitter if you don’t want to.)
Step 2: Click here to add your phone number to Twitter.
You’ll need to verify your cell phone number.
Step 3: Click here to go to the @DansDeals page. Click on the follow button and then click on the bell icon next to the follow button:
Step 4: Click here to go to the SMS notifications page. Scroll down and click on the box next to Tweets as shown below. You will now receive instant SMS notifications of deals! You can click on “View users” to see which Twitter accounts you are receiving SMS notifications from.
You can always turn off SMS notifications in the future by unchecking that box.
If you change cell phone providers you will need to undo this process and do it again from scratch to re-enable text message alerts.
There are over 95,000 DansDeals followers on Twitter, so be sure to take advantage of the best deals as soon as you get the alert!
You will never again be kicking yourself for missing another deal!

I click turn on notification and it says “Before you can receive mobile notifications for @DansDeals’s Tweets, you need to set up your phone.” so i click set up phone it goes into step 2 which everything is check as you show and its not working

Most filters for smart phones block access to Twitter.

Not sure if already posted, but if you have an android, (I’d assume iPhone as well) you can just download the app and enable notifications, and you don’t have to do the whole Sms thing. Deals are pushed instantly like any text etc.

I’m wondering, why is it everytime i check the site, for the deals( in this case, the $812 El Al direct JFK to Tel Aviv flights)
I never come up with the ” deals”?…..Right now, all i see is El Al about $1075 to $1150 direct flights

Just realized that if you have the twitter app on your phone, you can get app notifications of each new DD post and don’t need to set up SMS. Can’t seem to find a way, though, to get SMS alone without also getting app notifications.
For an easier way just text 40404 and write follow dansdeals..
Can’t claim to be a techie, but on December 28, 2013 I texted follow @DansDeals and got a reply that I am now following @DansDeals and that I will be receiving their tweets. Haven’t received anything since then. Any ideas?

This may have already been covered, but you can set up notifications for specific twitter accounts in the Twitter iOS App.
Just go to the settings tab and enable notifications. Then go to Dan’s twitter page and enable notifications from him. No texting required.

Yeah I noticed that I hadn’t gotten any tweets in a few days (not just from dd) itexted “on” to 40404 then I got this tweet to sign up..ppl saying they’re not getting texts….
I’ve been getting texts for awhile but apparently something just shut off and I wasn’t getting any text alerts from places I follow since Thirsday. I just went to 40404 and redid Follow @dansdeals and it said my notifications were off. Just switched it back on and now I’m back on!

Before I sign up for text messages I want to make sure (after reading everyone’s posts) that I won’t get duplicates texts and sms from twitter. I use Verizon and I want only one text per offer. Does Twitter has a app for the phone or do we sign up online via the computer?
I am getting 5 texts for each post today. Anyone else experiencing that, or know why that is happening/how to atop it? I always got just one per post, until today.

If it helps to diagnose the problem, each of the text messages has a slightly different link. For example, in the last one, sent, I got these. Note the last 4 characters of each link is different. (and note I got six!)

Sometimes, someone is only looking for a deal on a particular item for example a laptop or a camera. Could I suggest that you create a system that people could be notified of the deal for the item that they are looking for, as opposed to signing up to all notifications?

Apparently, you *will* get a message informing you that you have missed a tweet. You can then just check Twitter or the website. Obviously, it’s easier to just create an account. Derech agav, does anyone know what Twitter’s limit for SMS accounts actually is?

As the image in this post shows, you can select to turn on or off mobile notifications from everyone that you follow.
For those getting bounced back to step #2 when they’re at step #4. In step #2, after clicking “notify..” – scroll to the bottom and “save changes”.
