In the early days of COVID-19, JetBlue changed their refund policy from a 2 hour schedule change to requiring a change greater than 24 hours in order to get a refund.

I wrote at the time that the policy was absurd and illegal.

Sure enough, the DOT stepped in and forced JetBlue to revert back to 2 hours.

The DOT then told airlines that if they gave a customer a voucher instead of a cash refund, they had to reach out to customers to make it right.

Here is the email one DDFB member got from JetBlue regarding a award ticket for a cancelled flight that JetBlue had refunded the taxes to a TravelBank account.

JetBlue offered a cash refund or a 20% bonus if she kept the TravelBank funds.

Have you been contacted by airlines for a refund on a cancelled flight?

Is this an option if booked a jetblue flight through priceline or a different third party site?

My Jetblue flight a week and a half ago was delayed almost seven hours. I was so uncomfortable at JFK in my mask all that time. Eventually they offered a $200 travel voucher. Can I try for cash back instead?

i texted them and they responded

I’m so sorry for the frustration. On the date you chose to cancel your flight, your flight had less than a 2 hour schedule change. Consequently, it does not qualify for a refund to your original form of payment.

Does this apply to flights cancelled in April (before pesach)? Cancelled NY tix, and they only refunded to a travel bank. Just called them again last week, and they still maintained they cannot refund to original payment form since the flight did depart as scheduled and cancelled.

It’s talking about if they cancelled.
