American and United have both suspended all of their flights to Hong Kong, citing a drop in demand. Delta stopped flying to Hong Kong in 2018.

This comes after US airlines suspended all flights to mainland China last week.

United’s last flight to Hong Kong will depart from San Francisco tomorrow. American and United say they will resume flights on February 20th, but that seems pretty unlikely to me.

You can get a refund for all China or Hong Kong travel.

In the meantime, Cathay Pacific is still flying from Hong Kong to the US, though they too have closed sales on some routes, such as Newark-Hong Kong.

Did you have plans to travel to China or elsewhere in Asia? What are your thoughts on the Novel Coronavirus?

we are heading to Japan in just over a week… I am keeping my fingers crossed nothing changes in amount of people in Japan to the point where that is the next place flights are stopped.

If they don’t get a handle on it in next month or two it could have a huge impact on the 2020 summer Olympics in Japan, not to mention so many other things globally.

Lots of mileage upgrades using Asia Miles. On flight from JFK to HKG a few weeks ago, I upgraded 3 family members from Business to First (for 65k miles each) and 3 family members from Premium Economy to Business (for 35k miles each) on the same flight.
