About Silvercar:
Silvercar is a new-age car rental company. Since I first wrote about Silvercar I’ve received lots of rave reviews from readers thanking me for introducing them to Silvercar. Share your experience in the comments!

Silvercar is adding the 7 passenger Q7 SUV to their fleet. This is their first car that can accommodate more than 5 passengers! It will be available in select airports, including Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, and more, starting 2/15.

Their fleet will include the Audi A4, Q5 SUV, Q7 SUV, and the A5 Cabriolet convertible.

You can also request Peg Perego booster and convertible car seats at no additional charge!

I rented from them in Miami on a 2 day trip in the summer, and unlike the weather at the time, the car rental was a real treat. I called them upon landing and they picked me up from the terminal so that I was able to avoid taking the train to them. After the rental they dropped me off in my rental car right back to the terminal.

Cars come with built-in GPS, satellite radio, bluetooth, leather seats, and even a free WiFi hotspot. Unlimited miles are included in every rental.

You can rent from Silvercar as long as you are at least 22 years old with no underage fees.

I rented a car from Avis in Miami and got hit with a $17.20 bill for a two 70 cent tolls that I apparently passed on SR112. That’s $1.40 for the tolls and $15.80 for an “eToll Convenience Fee.” Convenient for whom is the question?

Silvercar only passes on the toll itself, no convenience fees!

If you don’t refill the fuel you’ll only be charged a $9.95 flat rate fee on top of the actual local price of the gas needed to fill up the car. No need to jeopardize missing your flight just to avoid paying $10/gallon for fuel.

Both AMEX and Chase cover the CDW insurance for a Audi A4, A5, Q5, or Q7, just select personal coverage when renting and write AMEX, Chase, etc.

You only pay when you pickup the car, nothing is charged beforehand and there are no cancellation fees ever.

Signup offer (You must follow both steps for credit):

Step 1: If you signup for an account via my referral link here you and I will both get $25 after you complete your first rental.

Step 2: After enrolling for an account you will need to click on this link and enter the following referral code in order to get the $25 after you complete a rental: DELEFF

I’m going to FLL on Sunday. They have no 7 seater options available yet? Do u recommend a different car rental company at FLL?

    • EWZ

Are you leaving from the NYC area on Sunday. I don’t think you’ll make it, check the forecast.

        • EWZ

Okay. Good. Because all the masses that are leaving from the NYC area airports this Sunday should start making alternative options.

  2. Q7 AMEX Coverage

I noticed that you didn’t mention the Q7 being covered. Is it really not? And what about AMEX premium coverage? What do you recommend doing when renting a Q7 as far as insurance is concerned?

  3. el

do i have to wait till 2/15 to be able to book? I tried booking LAX for april and it’s not showing the A7. thanks!

    • Dan

It’s the Q7 and it is bookable now.

      • el

oops yes, Q7. problem was my previous search was saved on their website so it wasn’t pulling up the Q7, after restarting the search it showed up. Thanks. BUT at LAX it’s only allowing 11 pm as the latest pickup time and 5 am as the earliest, but my flight arrives after midnight… are they closed from 11-5?

  4. Moshe

The weekly30 code is saying car needs to be returned by 03/31/19 I guess promo is over after that

  5. Alex K

THANK YOU @DAN!! I have a reservation for next week for the Q5 from MIA for 4 days and just got another $160 off my reservation! I used your referral to sign up years ago, but this will be my first reservation. I hope you get the credit!

  6. Paron

Do all Amex cards have primary insurance

    • Dan

None do unless you pay $20/rental extra.

      • S

I assume Dan doesn’t want to say this, as it may not be the most honest thing to do, but…
Once you enroll in the Amex insurance program, it automatically charges you the $20 when a rental gets charged to your card. Usually rental companies charge you after the rental, they just take your cc info before. You can initially give the rental company your Amex cc, and write down Amex for the insurance. Then assuming there’s no issues, you can ask them after the rental to use a different cc, and you shouldn’t have any problems. And you won’t get charged by Amex since the rental never charged to the card. (Obviously if there was an issue, you keep it charged to the Amex, and pay the $20, as that will give you the insurance).
Just make sure to enroll yourself in Amex’s insurance program, because it’s not on by default!

  7. Bella

Do all silvercars offer free booster seat?

    • Dan

Read the bold red letters in the post.

  8. SHrags

    1) They do NOT pick you up from the terminal. I called them and they told me that they do not do it from MIA

    2) Why do you say that you have to do both steps to get the $25 referral refund? You can add you code int he end and get it. That is what the website says and the rep confirmed it as well.

    • Dan

      1. Prob YMMV if they’re busy or not.
      2. That’s what you used to have to do for credit. Hopefully they’ve made it better in that case.

      • saul

True there’s no need for 2 steps anymore

  9. Abe

Under 25 do they charge underage fees?

  10. Mo

Thank you Dan for a code on an older post. I just finished a 2 day rental from FLL for the a5 cabriolet convertable and only cost me $139!! (Minus the $25 for 1st time and it cost me $114) it was an awesome car and a great experience!

  11. chicago girl

  12. Freecountry

Thanks just added the free 2 day promo code to a upcoming rental.

  13. Paron

Did anyone try using the code MYAUDI1 or MYAUDI2 without owning an audi? These codes are officially meant only for owners of an Audi. Does anyone know if they are strict about this?

    • JP

I have the same question. I have an upcoming trip using the MYAUDI2 code and curious if they will take the code off if I do not own an Audi

      • Paron

Please post after your trip if it works

    • YT

Sure it works I think it’s the best codes

  14. EHad

Is Visainf20 stackable with Myaudi2? On an ongoing rental finishing tomorrow? Please let me know how. Thanks

  17. Happyyid!

How do you add cars seats to the reservation?

  18. David

I’m booking a 10 day rental from LAX via your referral link. Booking a Q5, from Jan 28 to Feb 07 using the WEEKLY30 code. I keep getting different price totals. Once it was as low as $489 now its at $584. Is there a difference which day the reservations are made on?

  19. steven

If I use a citi credit card, do I have to purchase insurance even though citi gives free rental insurance?

  20. lenny

Hey, Are there any updates on the ownership codes? (Myaudi 1 and 2)

  21. Dz

It’s too much work to do a rental with this code and that code and most of the time does not work . I can’t even find a phone number to call and ask question .

  22. Mimi

  23. Aryeh

  24. Shimon Klagsbrun

Hey these codes are Sick, I just got an Q7 at Miami Airport with the 2 day free code. It came out cheaper than any other rental for a full size standard SUV. Thank you Dan.
