Delta is the first US airline to extend elite status. That makes sense as they’re typically a trend-setter, for better and for worse, while airlines like American and United just follow their lead.
Here is a summary of what Delta is doing:
- Delta SkyMiles Medallion Elite Status will be extended by 12 months, so if you have status expiring 1/31/21, it will now expire 1/31/22.
- All MQMs earned towards elite status in 2020 will be rolled over to 2021 in order to qualify for 2022 status.
- Delta SkyClub memberships expiring 3/1/20 or later will receive a 6 month extension.
- Delta Gold AMEX $100 flight credits will receive a 6 month extension.
- Delta Platinum/Reserve AMEX companion certificates expiring between 3/1/20-6/30/20 will be extended through 12/31/20. Certificates expiring 7/1/20-4/1/21 will receive a 6 month extension.
- Delta Reserve AMEX SkyClub guess passes will receive a 6 month extension.
- Upgrade certificates and $200 travel vouchers expiring between 3/1/20-6/30/20 will be extended through 12/31/20. Certificates expiring 7/1/20-4/1/21 will receive a 6 month extension.
- SkyMiles Select members will receive a 6 month extension.
- As previously announced, eCredits are being extended until 5/31/22.
