Update: Offer expired!
Update: Today is the last day to register for this promotion!
You can also register for this promotion to get bonus points on top of the rebate!
Originally posted on 7/16:
- Registration will remain open until 8/31.
- Redeem your points for free nights, Points + Cash stays or toward room upgrades, dining and spa services completed between August 1 and September 30, 2018.
- Stays must be completed by 9/30, so if you are staying over that date, you’ll want to split up that award into 2 reservations.
- Points redeemed for Avis car rental certificates or points transferred to airline partners are not eligible for this promotion.
- Officially it states to allow 6-8 weeks after your points redemption has been completed for the points rebate, but based on experience from this promotion in the past, it should post much faster that that.
While the terms indicate that only points redeemed between 8/1-9/30 will qualify, in the past this has always meant that the nights had to be used in that period, but the rebate has been valid regardless of when you actually created the award reservation.
The new World of Hyatt credit card is an excellent card and now comes with 50,000 points in additional to annual free nights and promotions such as this one. You can read more about the new World of Hyatt card here.

When booking a points+cash reservation I included a metric in the chart above that shows the rate that you’re effectively buying your points back at.
You’ll notice that points+cash stays are a worse value with the 10% off chart. That’s because you only get 10% of your points back, not the cash used.
The category 6 rate is normally the biggest points+cash bargain. You “buy” back or save 12.5K points per night for $150. Effectively you paid just 1.2 cents per point ($150/12,500) to save those 12.5K points per night. The category 1 and 7 points + cash deals are normally the worst as you are effectively paying 2 cents per point.
With 10% off the category 6 rate falls to 1.33 cents per point and the category 1 and 7 rates fall to 2.22 cents per point.
Note that standard awards have no blackouts or capacity controls on standard rooms and suites. However points+cash reservations are capacity controlled. A nice benefit of points+cash rooms is that they are considered a paid rate, so they qualify for all promotions that apply to paid hotel stays. On the flip side, Hyatt doesn’t charge resort fees on point stays or on free nights from their credit card, but you will pay a resort fee on points+cash stays.
Suite nights require a 3 night minimum stay and can only be booked over the phone.

Have something booked with points already in a month. Do I need to rebook to get the 10% points back?
Read the post.
I did, but can’t find it. Yes or no, please!
Hyatt’s site is down….. Ha hah
so your saying that you would book only using cash and points only when its category 6 and when there is no resort fees? and if chase closed me down and i dont have a hyatt card anymore why are all the hyatt reps telling me my points are not going to expire when there supposed to expire after 18 months?
I also have booked 2 reservations from 8-1 – 8-7. I am new to hyatt and never have done this before. If I already booked what can i get back or what can i upgrade as i used 2 free nights and pai for the other one for 10k.

Are you a Chase Hyatt cardholder?
I have an award stay booked 7/31 – 8/6 but I don’t have a Hyatt credit card. Could I apply for the card now and still earn the 10% back?
Follow-on question… Would only my first night be exempt from 10% back because the promo starts Aug 1?
Anyone get points back yet?
I stayed 2 night with Hyatt by using points on August 8. However, I registered this promotion after the stay. Do I still get the rebate?
