Update: Offer expired, now earn up to 50,000 points!
Chase launched the new World Of Hyatt Credit Card today. The card is offering 40,000 bonus points for spending $3,000 in 3 months plus another 20,000 bonus points for spending another $3,000 within 6 months. You’ll have between 66,000-84,000 Hyatt points after meeting those thresholds, 60,000 points from the sign up bonus and 6k-24k points from spending on the card depending on your spend category as explained below.
Comparison to previous signup bonuses:
The previous Chase Hyatt card offered 40K signup points, so this is a 50% increase from that offer. Before then the older card offered 2 free nights upon signup, but 60K points is far more valuable than that. The 2 free nights expired after just one year, but the 60K points will never expire as long as you have any activity in your Hyatt account every 24 months. Plus while 60K points can be used for 2 free nights at any Hyatt, it can also be used for a dozen free nights at cheaper Hyatt hotels or for other awards, like suite award nights or points+cash awards. Hyatt also allows points to be transferred to any Hyatt member for free!
Annual fee:
There is a $95 annual fee. That’s $20 more than the old Hyatt card, but it comes with lots of new benefits.
Previous cardholders:
You can receive the bonus on this card if you haven’t received a bonus on a Hyatt card in the past 24 months.
Current Hyatt card customers can upgrade to this card and get 2,000 points.
5/24:
The Chase Hyatt card is not subject to 5/24 restrictions, so you can get approved for this card even if you have opened 5 or more consumer credit cards in the past 24 months.
Annual free nights:
This card comes with an annual anniversary night for category 1-4 Hyatt hotels. If you spend $15,000 in your cardmembership year you can get an additional annual anniversary night for category 1-4 Hyatt hotels. The annual free night is worth well more than the annual fee, for example you can use it at the category 4 Andaz Costa Rica Resort, where rooms can cost up to $650/night!
The free nights are valid for a year, but I have had success requesting 10K Hyatt points by calling Hyatt after they expire and asking for a credit for the expired night.
Elite status for all cardholders:
The card gives Discoverist status, which gives free premium internet, 10% bonus points at Hyatt hotels, free bottled water daily at Hyatt hotels, and 2PM late checkout.
A nice feature of the Hyatt program is that they waive resort fees on award nights.
Card earnings:
You’ll earn 4 points per dollar at Hyatt, 2 points per dollar on dining (including restaurants, cafes and coffee shops, etc)offer details reference link, airplane tickets, local transit and commuting (including mass tranist, Uber, Lyft, taxis, tolls, etc), and fitness/gym memberships.
Elite qualifying benefits and additional free nights:
The card also gives 5 elite qualifying nights every year and you’ll earn an additional 2 nights towards elite status with every $5,000 that you spend.
You’ll need a total of 30 nights (combined between paid stays, award stays, the 5 nights that come with the credit card, and additional credit card spending nights) to hit Explorist status and 60 nights to hit top-tier Globalist status. After you reach Globalist you’ll only need 55 nights in subsequent years to re-qualify.
Let’s say that you use your 60K signup points for 5 nights in a Hyatt hotel, plus you earn 5 elite qualifying nights every year, so you’re already at 10 nights. If you spend $50,000 on the card you’ll earn another 20 elite qualifying nights. That will earn you Explorist status and at which point Hyatt also awards you with yet another category 1-4 night (in addition to the annual category 1-4 for having the card and the annual 1-4 night for spending $15,000 on the card). Explorists earn 20% bonus points at Hyatt hotels and get free club lounge access with breakfast on 4 stays per year.
Spend another $75,000 on the card to earn another 30 elite qualifying nights and you’ll earn top-tier Globalist status. Hyatt will then give you a free unrestricted category 1-7 free night valid at any Hyatt in the world. You’ll also earn 4 confirmed suite upgrade certificates, valid on both paid stays and point stays, that you can use to upgrade base rooms to suites for up to 7 nights each at the time of booking. Globalists get free lounge access and many Hyatt hotels will also buy Globalists free kosher breakfast where available. I’ve taken advantage of free kosher breakfast in Buenos Aires, Cleveland, Hawaii, Los Angeles, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Sydney, and more. Globalists also get access to a personal Hyatt concierge for reservations and personalized service. Resort fees are waived for Globalists on paid and award stays and parking fees are waived on award stays as well. Globalists also get 2 free annual United Club passes and can share their Globalist benefits on award stays with their friends and family.
For every 10 additional elite qualifying nights you’ll get to choose between another 10,000 bonus points or a confirmed suite upgrade award.

I’ll have to model out the opportunity cost of spend on the Hyatt card. Fairly low opportunity cost on the first $15k while you’re still qualifying for the free night cert. Beyond that, the cost is pretty high considering that I could be earning say 2x UR.

You can spend your way to top-tier with this card, no need for any stays, though staying will lower the nights that you need.

I will not be approved for any more Chase cards and I got the Hyatt card in the last round when it was the final opportunity to get the yearly free night. I have globalist through stays. 1. would spend count towards getting lifetime status? 2. would it make sense to switch from the current card to this one for only 2000 points, but having the spending opportunity? Currently, I do not spend anything on my card as it is not worth it?

Hyatt has no Israeli hotels, though the Hyatt Regency Sharm El Sheikh Resort is category 2.

If you earn them in 2018 they would expire 2/29/20.
If I’m an authorized user on an account that received the 40k Hyatt bonus ~8 months ago, would I be eligible to open this card and receive the bonus? Or would being an authorized user on the older card that recently received a bonus negate that? Thanks!

Old Hyatt card if you spend $50,000 they give you explorist status but you weren’t able to upgrade to globalist with spent. Aare you sure the new card can get the globalist with spending not actual stays?
