Effective immediately, Israel will test all arrivals from abroad for coronavirus and force them to stay in a designated quarantine hotel or designated quarantine facility for 14 days.

With hotels shut down across the country, several of them have been repurposed into quarantine locations.

Previously, arrivals from abroad were allowed to quarantine at home.

DDF member Proisrael reports that the quarantine hotels are “amazing”, with a free room for each individual person, 3 free catered meals a day, a snack room, and game room with video games, ping pong, foosball, etc. Free masks are also provided to everyone. No word on whether the nights at the hotel count for elite status 😉

Israel locked down its borders early in the crisis, but there has been criticism that returning residents from abroad weren’t being properly screened for coronavirus upon arrival and have been allowed into the country to infect others.

There aren’t many flights from abroad these days, Ethiopian has twice weekly flights from Addis Ababa and United is still operating daily flights from Newark. El Al is also operating rescue flights from various locations across the globe.

Israel has some of the strongest lockdown laws in the world, with residents not allowed to stray more than 300 feet from their home unless it’s for an essential need. Police and soldiers are now enforcing those rules.

Have you been quarantined in an Israeli hotel?

I think his question was, “For how long is this rule in effect?”

        • Dan

Like pretty much all the new rules these days, for as long as it takes.

Why is United still flying mostly empty planes back and forth? Did the Israeli govt hire them to bring goods?

    • Dan

Cargo transport has become very lucrative as rates have skyrocketed due to limited air service.
