Marriott has limited the number of elite night credits earned from having their credit cards to 15/year, but effective today you can get 30 elite night credits per year if you have both a Marriott consumer and Marriott business credit card!

The updated night total be found here:

If you click on details you can see the breakdown of your nights:

Marriott Gold status requires 25 nights, so you’ll get that if you have a Marriott consumer+business credit card. Platinum status requires 50 nights, so you’ll need just 20 nights to earn that status if you have a Marriott consumer+business credit card.

With 2 cards you’ll also get 2 annual anniversary nights, which also count towards elite status.

Platinum status isn’t nearly as good as it was under SPG as hotels have gotten stingier with suite upgrades, but it still gets you 50% bonus points,  4pm checkout, a points amenity, lounge access, 5 suite upgrade night awards, and more.

I noticed yesterday that I was at 34 nights and was wondering how lol

  2. menachem thaler

Looks to be only if both are amex

    • Dan

      No.
You just need one consumer and on business card. Having just a Chase and AMEX consumer or Chase and AMEX business won’t work.

    Is this due to coronavirus?

Also, if i earn 50 nights this year (before dec 31), how long will my Platinum status last?

    Thanks Dan

Good news, however, did not get my account updated yet… Is it for everybody with both cards?

  5. J

Two consumer cards (one Chase and one Amex); can confirm that does not get the extra 15 nights from the second one. 🙁

    • Dan

      Yup, need a consumer+business card.

I closed my Amed Biz bonvoy credit card on March 23
[ higher annual fee…. not worth for me]

But still got the 30 credit, amazing!

Mine just renewed at 95. Strange that your fee went up to 125

Just checked; Got my extra 15 nights! Thanks Dan!

I got my extra nights, but I canceled the card 4 days ago, hopefully they don’t take them back. If AMEX had told me about this when I canceled, I probably would have kept the card.

    • Dan

You might be able to call and ask for them to reinstate the account.

Just closed this card last month (Bonvoy bus). Was able to reinstate through Amex chat for $25.

Has anyone been able to get the signup bonus for the business card if they already have the consumer card (upgraded from spg consumer)? Just trying to figure out if its worth trying my luck on this one. Thanks

  12. Dumbo

Can someone please dumb this down for me? My account shows I have 15 bonus nights- what does that mean? 15 free hotel stays?

    • #1DanFan

It means that you have 15 nights toward your level of status. 10 for silver, 25 for gold…

Thanks dan just noticed I was upgraded to gold elite!
Just a question, any idea if marriott would extend the life of my anniversary certificate? Its expiring 05/02/2020

    Thanks

so if I have the chase personal boundless and the Amex business bonvoy. I will get the 15+15=30 night credit?

  15. #1danfan

I currently have the 3 cards from Bonvoy. None are business, but I am very confused with the wording from amex about the signup bonus restrictions. Is there any way for me to check eligibility before applying for the amex business card? I tried calling, but had no luck. Thanks
