Convert Hotel Points To Cathay Pacific Asia Miles And Get A 30% Bonus

-Convert hotel points between 12/1-12/31 Hong Kong time and get a 30% bonus.
-Bonus miles will be added by 3/31/17.

-20K Starpoints normally converts into 25K Asia Miles. With this promotion it will convert into 32.5K Asia Miles once the bonus is added. That’s an effective 62.5% bonus.
-270K Marriott points (90K Starpoints can transfer to 270K Marriott points) normally converts into 85K Asia Miles and 7 nights in a Marriott category 1-5 hotel. With this promotion it will convert into 110.5K Asia Miles once the bonus is added.

I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for Cathay Pacific Asia Miles. I earned my first million miles with one airline on Cathay thanks to their eBay Anything Points partnership and have flown in many memorable first class flights around the world with them.

Like many OneWorld airlines, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles has a distance based chart. However unlike the charts of British Airways and LAN, they don’t charge more miles for connecting flights.

Cathay Pacific also charges lower fuel surcharges for travel on British Airways than other carriers do which is great as BA has the best OneWorld award availability.

Asia Miles also has access to more Cathay Pacific saver awards than partner airlines do.

This chart of every OneWorld flight from NYC will give you an idea of how many Asia Miles you’ll need for an award flight.

For example:
-A round-trip on American from JFK-Los Angeles in business class is just 50K miles and in first class is just 70K miles. American charges 65K in business and 100K in first. Of course the trick is finding American saver award space…
-A round-trip on British Airways from JFK-London in business class is just 80K miles and in first class is just 120K miles. American charges 115K in business and 170K in first and charges higher fuel surcharges.
-A round-trip on American from JFK-Rio de Janeiro in coach is just 45K miles and in business class is just 80K miles. American charges 60K in coach and 115K in business.
-A round-trip on Cathay from JFK-Vancouver in business class is just 50K miles and in first class is just 70K miles. American charges 75K in business and 125K in first and chargers more fuel surcharges.

    @AJK:
    It was a couple hundred less when I checked earlier this year.
    If you check now let us know.

    @Anon:
    Yes, but they won’t transfer to airline miles at a good ratio.

  4. EH

    @Dan why is the Hilton point “tranferring at a bads ratio”? what can they be worth besides for hotels. if i specifically want flight is it worth it or do you think i can get better?

  5. Buenas nachos

    You’re pretty much always right, but are you sure they figure the bonus after they add the 5,000 miles? Otherwise it would just give you 32k and I can see a few people being just short of an award…

  6. RF

    Anyone know what are mileage cost + fuel surcharges for NYC-HKG round trip? What’s the best program for this redemption?

  7. Eliezer

    BA flights bookable online or only over the phone?

  8. Bodiddely

    Is there any way to see what the fuel surcharges would be? I found a flight with availability (IAD-LHR on BA F), but it just says I don’t have enough miles in my account to proceed, there’s no way to see the taxes/fees…
