Update: Reminder that this sale is valid this week as well!
Staples is waiving the $6.95 purchase fee on $200 Visa gift cards through 11/16 in-store only.
Use your Chase Ink Cash Card or Ink Plus card and get 5 points per dollar spent.
You can purchase as many cards as your store will allow in one transaction and the fee will be waived. Some stores may have a limit of 1 while other stores may have no limits.
If you buy 10 of the $200 Visa gift cards you’ll earn 10,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points by charging it to an Ink Cash card. If you use your points at an average value of 2 cents each, then that’s like getting $200 back!
You can use the gift cards to buy money orders at Walmart or at various grocery stores and gas stations. Just use the last 4 digits of the card as the PIN number to cash them out.
Or you can donate the gift card to charity and get a receipt for the full face value while earning 5 points per dollar.
Or you can give away a gift card as a wedding or Bar Mitzvah gift.
Or you can always use it for everyday spending while earning 5% or 5 Chase Ultimate Rewards points per dollar everywhere!
All stores near me started enforcing the 1 card limit last month. I don’t see the deal in the weekly ad, where is it?
The last 2 times Staples has had either Mastercard or Visa with no fee the ad did not state a 1 card limit as it did in earlier such promotions. I’ve rarely had a problem buying 5 or 6 at a time.
How much does Walmart charge for Money orders?
Do you have google??????
88 cents
Effective immideately?
This should also work great for anyone who has an office supply store offer on their Amex – I have offer for 35% off, up to $40 total.
OfficeMax hasn’t had their fee waived/$ off visa gc in months. They used to match whenever Staples had theirs by a week or 2.
Not true. Not sure if Dan mentioned it but they were going simultaneously 2x in the past month. We have the limits at all the stores in Seattle so I got credit cards in my kids’ names and the 3 of us hit up a few stores one day and bought over $3K in cards ($600 per Staples and $1200 per Depot/Max).
Dan did not, nor did other blogs I follow.
I got these last time they were on sale from Office Depot and brought them to Walmart where I was told they don’t do money orders with these. Anyone else have this issue? Where have you been able to cash them out?
Some Walmarts will do giftcards and some won’t…but there are lots of Walmarts to check
Where’s the closest place to NYC where you can convert gift cards to money orders,?
Try grocery stores..
FYI I just went to a Walmart to get money orders with the gift cards and the manager said they will not let you pay with gift cards for money orders. Make sure to check with you Walmart to see if they let you before trying this option
“Check with your Walmart to see if they let you before trying this option.” Are you kidding????
“Hi. I just bought some Visa Gift Cards across the street at Staples. Is it OK that I buy money orders with these cards????”
Jeeeeez. Don’t ask. Don’t call attention to what you are doing. Just do it. The worst thing that can happen is you are turned down, and you use the Visa cards for regular spending.
Please don’t ask.
Lol, Steve.
That’s how deals get shut down quickly.
Told me “I do apologize that we can’t convert it to a regular credit.” I asked what CAN you do and got back “No worries, I will issue a $6 promotional credit on your account. How’s that sound?”
Thanks Dan!
Do these work to reach spending on a new cc?
Sure.
Not on Amex
Does anyone in Chicago know a good place to liquidate these? I stopped doing gift cards last year because my local Walmart and Meijer always give me a hard time buying money orders.
Can I get cash back at giant eagle?
do other gift cards sold by staples and when used in conjunction with the chase ink earn 5 point per dollar?
Does venmo work to unload the gift card with no fee?
