Update, 2/13: The Norman Tel Aviv is now bookable as an SLH category 8 hotel costing 40K Hyatt points. The base points room is the Deluxe Room, which is normally $650 per night:

For tourists, that’s a value of 1.63 cents per Hyatt point. For Israeli residents subject to 17% VAT, it’s a value of 1.9 cents per Hyatt point.

Starting on 3/22, the hotel will be subject to 35K off-peak, 40K standard, or 45K peak pricing.

A $650 room for 35K points is a value of 1.86 cents per point for tourists or 2.17 cents per point for Israeli residents.

All Hyatt members get free WiFi, breakfast, upgrades, early check-in, and late checkout at SLH hotels on both paid and award stays.

In November 2018 Hyatt added 54 SLH partner hotels. Hyatt members can redeem points for those hotels and earn points for staying there.

Since then Hyatt has added more SLH partner hotels every few months.

Today Hyatt is adding a 7th round of SLH hotels and there are now more than 350 SLH hotels that partner with Hyatt for earning and redeeming points. Hyatt has a relatively small footprint, so the SLH hotel partnership opens up excellent redemption opportunities in unique places. More SLH Hotels will be added later this year.

Best of all, Hyatt is finally adding a points option in Israel. There used to be a Hyatt Regency Jerusalem, but that was reflagged some 15 years ago as the Dan Jerusalem, a few years after former Israeli general Rehavam Ze’evi was assassinated there.

Today, the Norman Tel Aviv joins Hyatt as a top-tier category 8 hotel, costing 40K points per night. That’s pricey, but it’s considered one of the top hotels in the country.

Unfortunately it is not a kosher hotel.

The hotel is not yet bookable on Hyatt.com but this will be the landing page when it is, I’ll make an update when it is bookable.

Other SLH hotels joining Hyatt today include:

All Hyatt members get free WiFi, breakfast, upgrades, early check-in, and late checkout at SLH hotels.

When is peak stays and when is off peak stays? Why doesn’t it have dates listed? So confusing

Would they provide kosher breakfasts? Very pricey to not even get breakfast out of it!

    • Dan

I love Israeli breakfasts, but sometimes I get annoyed that I’m not hungry until dinner. I miss out on other good food options in the country because I feel dumb skipping the free breakfast at the Waldorf 😀

  3. Helen

Are any of the hotels added today bookable yet on Hyatt.com? I’m specifically looking at the ones in Switzerland. Thanks.

    • Dan

Yes, most should be bookable now.

  4. HelpMe

Interesting, I am running out of excuses.

    • Dan

Got lost on DDF so you wound up here?
Trump vs. Bloomberg thread needs your help. Even EG has gone dirty.

But yes, it’s high time you made it to the holy land. Take Something Fishy with you!

        Why isn’t there a like button here?…

  5. davidmal

I looked into this hotel last summer, It’s a boutique hotel with a rooftop pool. Unfortunately it’s not on the beach. If your going to stay in Tel Aviv opt for a hotel that’s on the beach & save your Hyatt points its not worth 40,000 points a night.
The Setai & The Jaffa solid options
but Both of these are old port Jaffa (Which I enjoyed MUCH more.)

Opera Hotel Brand New Hotel from Herbert Samuel

and then of course Hilton and Marriott have there hotels at a better value as well…..

    Dan,

I booked the TRYP in Jerusalem when you posted the sale and status matched to diamond when you posted about that(thanks). What are the chances the upgrade me when I check in?

    • Thanks!

      0.0001% chance.

Was there in October and the (Russian) lady at reception said “here in Israel everyone is Diamond, we do not have upgrades”.

  7. Zagguru

Amalfi Coast is currently showing Cat 7, but doesnt seem to be bookable

  8. Typo

I believe that the sentence starting “A $650 room” is just the opposite for Israelis more expensive

    • Dan

That’s why the value is better for them.
