Hyatt previously announced that they were waiving cancellation fees through 3/31 for:

  • Guests residing in Greater China, South Korea, Japan and Italy with reservations at Hyatt hotels globally
  • Guests with reservations at Hyatt hotels in Greater China, South Korea, Japan and Italy

They are now offering 10,000 points for guests with non-refundable reservations worldwide that were made on 3/8 or earlier for travel through 6/30. You won’t be able to get back what you paid, but you can call Hyatt or email at worldofhyatt@hyatt.com to request 10,000 points in exchange for cancelling your prepaid stay.

Guests must contact Hyatt 48 hours in advance of their stay dates to request the 10K points. Hyatt Explorists and Globalists can contact Hyatt up to 24 hours in advance to take advantage of this offer.

Will you trade your prepaid stay for 10,000 Hyatt points?

This is a joke, right? Shouldn’t they make an exception and refund, due to the circumstances?

They are doing that in Greater China, South Korea, Japan and Italy.
For everywhere else, this is the offer. It’s certainly more generous than the other chains.

The hotels are independently owned. There’s not much they can do.

Tell them you have corona virus and will be there tomorrow. I have a feeling they will cancel and refund you pretty quickly!
