Update: DEAD!
The Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Plus Credit Card offers 75,000 points for spending $3,000 in 3 months.
The Starwood AMEX cards do not currently offer any bonus Starpoints for signing up.
The Chase Marriott cards and the Starwood AMEX cards will offer an annual free anniversary night valid at hotels that cost up to 35,000 points per night. You can get a free anniversary night for each card that you have open!
Those nights will be valid for category 1-5 hotels in August, though starting in February it won’t be good for peak dates in category 5 hotels as you can see from the award chart below.

Starting in August I’ll automatically get 1 free night for every card I have open? And is that contingent on that card being open for at least a year? Or will the anniversary night only come when my next annual fee hits?
Next annual fee, starting in August.
So anybody who just signed up for the card (ie: 100k offer) will have to wait a full year to get their 1 free night? Even though the annual fee isn’t waived the first year?
Yes.
The 100K is worth a lot more than a free night.
Agreed! Just wanted to make sure. Thanks Dan!
Is this for every card you have, including employee card, or secondary (no annual fee) Cardholders??
St Regis here I come!
The 35k cutoff is annoying. They could have made it 40k as to not terribly inconvenience people who want a Cat 5 peak.
Probably didn’t want it working for category 6 off-peak.
Dan, can anniversary nights be put towards a “5th night free”? Meaning if I book 3 nights with points plus the anniversary night, can I get a 5th night free? Thanks
Nope.
Oh well. That’s a great list of hotels! Thanks for putting this stuff together
Any guess as to what will happen to existing ritz nights?
I’d guess that they will be honored up to 60K, but who knows.
Any sort of list of dates that are considered peak for hotels in cat 5?
Nothing has been published yet.
When is are “peak” times?

Must the cardholder be the guest for the free anniversary night?
What about a free night that was just issued, will I be able to use it on all these hotels comes 8/1?
I mean a free night 1-5 issued through my Chase Marriott Credit card
It will be good for hotels up to 25K points.
25k for people who have 1-4 category free night you mean? What about people who have 1-5 category free night from Chase Marriott?
Nope, I meant what I said.
These two hotels are currently listed as category 7, are you saying they will become category 5 comes 8/1? If so, where is the new list?
Publica Isrotel, Autograph Collection, Herzliya, Israel
Renaissance Tel Aviv, Israel
Yes. Link is in the post.
Any update on what is going to happen with the 7night 1-5 vouchers ?

Where does it state that the Starwood Business Card members will lose lounge access as of 8/1?
Feel free to call AMEX to confirm.
I am not questioning whether it’s true, just wondering if they posted or published the change anywhere
It was on my billing statement.
I opened the card in March, I just looked at all billing statements, other than an upcoming change for Extended Warranty and Purchase Protection, I don’t see any other changes.
Thanks Dan. I just applied for the card now and got approved. Looking forward to the 100,000 points this year and free anniversary night next year.
As far as I understand from reading your other posts, all my SPG points will triple and become Marriott points on August 1st. I have reservations for two rooms at the Sheraton on the Falls for August 1st and August 2nd. Right now the total is 28,000 SPG points which will be 84,000 Marriott points but with the new charts on August 1st it should be only 70,000 Marriott points. Should I cancel the reservation on the morning of August 1st and rebook with the new rate?
i might be wrong but i think he mentioned before on a previous post that you can call and ask for an adjustment once august hits? or maybe cancel and rebook in august if that doesnt work
Thanks @Dan for always breaking it down so well.
P.s. I had really hopes St. Regis would’ve made it on to list
Dan, I should now have 3 cards qualifying for the free night: My Amex SPG, my wife’s SPG Business, and the new Marriott card. Once I get the free nights from all three, how difficult would it be to book 8 nights using points for 4, free 5th, followed by 3 anniversary nights? Sound feasible?
if you find 8 night consecutively on standard rooms
Hi Dan,
I opened a Chase Marriott 75k car a few months ago. Will I get the 100k points if I get approved for the Chase Marriott Premier Plus credit card, or will I have to close my card first
should i go through the effort to get the 5 night certificates? instead of the 7 night ones, after reading your posts throughly i learned that there may be a chance that they marriot may decide to convert the certificate to points comes august, so i am not sure which certificate to get the 7 night or the 5 night? and even if the certificates converts to points ,on a ritz tier 1-5 will it convert to 150 plus the 5 times 30 k marriot you payed to go up 5 levels? or will it convert to 30-50 thousand(cost of ritz points per night tier 1-3) times 7?thank you for clarifying
I have a 1 night certificate in my account will the chances apply to the existing certificate?
There are 4 marriotts dropping down to cat 5 in Costa Rica on the Guanacaste beaches and at Jaco beach.
If I get a cat 1-5 7 night certificate now will it be good for these hotels after August 1?
How do I find out when my anniversary is?
