You will get 1,000 bonus starpoints for adding 1 additional cardmember, and 2,000 if you add 2. In my experience (admittedly contrary to the fine print quoted below) I have not had to actually activate and use the additional cards in order to get the bonus points, but your mileage may vary.
With the new Fico ’08 algorithm, being an additional cardholder supposedly no longer benefits your credit score in any way. It will show up on your credit report, but it is no longer calculated in the score.
Be sure to print out a copy of this offer just in case AMEX does not credit you the bonus points automatically…

does it affect your credit if you intend to cancel soon?
didnt they offer 5000 per additional cardholder last year? i called them up about it a long time ago & they said they dont have that offer. I know theres inflation & all but a 80% cut on the bonus points!? Thats a hard one to swallow!
just saw fine print on consumer card application—states that 10k points are 1 time bonus for first time cardholdersONLY–i cancelled my card anticipating points on the new application–does this mean no more churning?–please advise

Cancelling the additional card will have no credit effect.

All credit card applications say that. Getting multiple signup bonus is always going to be YMMV (your mileage may vary). However as long as you’re up to making enough phone calls to customer service you can pretty much always get a signup bonus multiple times for any card…

Does the promotion apply to someone who already has an additional card, or can I use the same person twice for the 2 additional cards?
try just canceling your additional cards and resigning them if you need the card theyll ship it to you overnight just ask
