Ok. can anyone explain to me……. will this allow me to connect my laptop to the screen on mall (currently connected with a cable / cord) and use all of my programs (excel, ,word, internet) or will this only work with Amazon programs / apps?

Good facts so this doesn’t becomes a $20 bill sitting in the corner of the room
Chromecast will soon get an update and goes for as low as $25 from time to time.
Amazon doesn’t support HBO Go
Roku refurbs are more expensive but awesome (and the mic in the remote is sweet) and private channels are great.
You still have to pay for the “better” remote and I think you have to plug this thing in too.
TVs now have most of this built in (making this plus others obsolete if you like how your TV manages media).
You might prefer ethernet to wifi when streaming (see roku 3) or doing something with LAN.
$20 sits in Amazon’s pocket while you wait for something that might not be that great (good for AMZN which operates at a low or negative working capital and cash conversion cycle).
But then again, it’s just $20! 😀
