Dan, If you don’t mind please add a link of how to get your traditional phone service to transfer to this or Google voice. Thanks
@Yeshivish: Yes, they will port your number
What’s the monthly cost for service in NY?
I presently have magic jack. Does this replace it? How does it compare?
You can also go with the OBI voip adapter either the 100 series or the 200 series are directly compatible with Google Voice offering 100% nationwide service no taxes or any fees with your Google Voice account.

You can keep your number but they do charge a 1 time porting fee. When I did it a number of years ago it was $40.
I’ve been using ooma since 2009 and love it. I’m grandfathered into the no monthly fee until my correct device breaks so I love. If my device breaks I’d consider omi with google voice to avoid the $4-$5 monthly fee but I do think ooma is more reliable than Google Voice in the sense that Google can end this service at anytime or just end their integration with omi. Of course ooma can also go out of business and therefore end service at anytime so you never know.
I think the coupon comes up only if you are registered in Prime.
i have ooma for a few years. i LOVE it. i run a home business.
i ported over both my home and work numbers.
A you have to pay 100 per year for premium service.
B with premium you get 2 lines and also text messages whenever someone left you a voice message.
C to have 2 lines you have to purchase a different ooma device for about $ 50.
D once you have it all set up my phone bill went from $ 1200 annual to 200 annual(including tax) with better voicemail and a app to hear my messages
E i only regret that i did not do this sooner
i have prime and no coupon appears.
Does this need to work through my wifi or does it have its own router? If I don’t have any wifi in my home will this work?
Thanks again Dan!
Do you need existing wifi?
The 10% coupon seems to work only for Amazon prime members.
My wife and I don’t have prime accounts, and we don’t see the coupon.
My friend has a prime account and he sees the coupon
I have prime and no coupon appears either! Dead? Limited qty? No info.
you don’t need wifi but need internet. you will connect the wire from the ooma box to your router
@eli in balt:
What additional device did yo need to buy to have two line?
Been using ooma few years now. very very happy. We had our number transferred no problem.
You can plug directly into router or you can buy a usb wifi connector and place it anywhere, you will need a computer for that setup.
