What do most people prefer a Dell or a Toshiba? Also what are some of the benefits that each one has over the other?

    Evan

  2. CC

I believe the term “Netbook” would be a little more appropriate.

  3. dave

anyone know if this has a disc drive?

  4. Moish

@ Dave: this doesn’t have an optical drive
@ CC: I agree with you! Although it’s a nice and sleek unit, its 1.3 GHz processor is very limiting.
    As always – thanks Dan!

  5. disc drive

@dave: it does not, but you could buy one for very cheap

  6. Zevy

This is much closer to a laptop then a netbook
Netbooks come with atom processors which are very slow.

  7. Tush

Just checked out the pictures and it looks like there is not a disc drive which is a real shame because that would have this my dream laptop!

  8. Zevy

@Tush: Most of the ultra light laptops don’t come with cd drives

    @Zevy:
I need a 13 inch screen laptop with good battery life with optical drive- do you have any reccomendations? (i need it for schlepping around so it would be a plus if its lightweight) I wanna spend from 500-750 but no more!
First i was thinking of a netbook, but i need an optical drive and a fast precessor

For someone that wants a budget thin and light laptop this is a good choice. And the Intel ULV processor is much better than the processor in netbook’s.

An optical drive can be purchased for $25.

  11. Tush

But will I get annoyed shlepping around an external optical drive? What’s your opinion

  12. Zevy

I would go with this laptop, I have a HP with very similar specs and am very happy with it.
I bought two different netbooks, and ended up returning both of them because they were too slow.
And as Dan said you can just buy an external drive for about $25.

What’s the regular price on this laptop? I see it now is $548, I just wonder if $540 is such a great price?
