    this is also available directly from best buy! why do you always post the ebay deal over the retail deal?

  2. Dan

    @mendy:
    When you buy it on eBay you can use discounted gift cards that they sell all the time and eBay Bucks, plus you get eBay bucks back on the purchase.

    Does not have an optical drive. (cd drive)

    @ralph:
    Optical drives are going the way of the dodo on laptops.
    You can buy an external one for very cheap if you really need one.

  5. Yosef

    Can you return it to a store if you buy it through ebay?

  6. Moshe

    But is ebay a authorized seller? For warranty and (some) credit card matches.

    Dell is horrible! After 4 months mine stopped working. You have to mail it to them to get it fixed. I wanted a new replacement. A computer should last for more than 4 months! They don’t stand behind their products. Customer service is in India, they just read responses from a script. I went through 5 “managers” and they all repeated the same script. I now have a refurbished computer that I paid full price for! Look up reviews for Dell, you’ll see I’m not the only one with this experience. Stay away from Dell!

    @Anonymous: When you buy from Best Buy on ebay, you still pay sales tax.

    @Yosef:
    Yes.

    @Moshe:
    Yes.

    @Gina:
    Lemons happen with any PC, though Dell happens to be among the best PC brands.
    Otherwise pony up the $$$$ for a Mac.

    Yes, there are lemons, but a good company would stand behind their product and replace the lemon with a new product to please the customer and create loyalty. Dell doesn’t care.I am saving up for an Apple – a company that stands behind its products and cares about it’s reputation. Dell needs to learn from it’s competitor!

    @Anonymous:
    Fair enough, but an Apple with the same specs costs 3x the price. They can afford to stand behind a product with their markups.

    Actually, Staples had the Toshiba C55-C5379, with very similar specs for $199.99 after $50 easy rebate back in December. They sell it now for $299.99, sold out online, which is still a decent deal.
