Use the following coupon in your cart for $350 off of $999 (Exp: 05/01): 846R2FJ08MV90T
The base configuration for this model is $569, you need to add at least $430 of upgrades in order to get the $350 off of $999.
I’ve gone ahead and highlighted sample upgrades that will give you a computer with out-of-this world performance without any tinkering or additions required after the purchase. It will also put you just over the $999 coupon threshold. If you are comfortable with upgrading stuff like RAM yourself you should just stick with the 1GB RAM option and buy 2GB of RAM elsewhere for much cheaper.

i need a good computer to do basic photo/video editing, is this what i need or is it excessive?
i only need a computer in a month or so
do you think that this is the best price for the next month or so?
also i heard a while ago that its best to stick with xp instead of vista… do you agree?
thanks
to add to my last post
i already have a big screen.
if i leave it with
Intel®Pentium® dual-core processor E2180 (1MB L2 . Cache,2.00GHz,80 [Included in Price]
and take off the screen its only $350
is it worth the upgrade?
@shimon
you need to bring your subtotal over $999 in order to get the $350 off.

I think This system is definitely an excellent choice for video editing which requires allot of system resources.
If you already have a screen then just sell this one on eBay, because you need to have a total of $999 to get the discount.
thank you for responding
my question is do i need to upgrade this for $200
because i can buy it, without the screen for $350 WITHOUT a discount
thats why i want to know if what it comes with is good enough
thanks
Shimon
The sale seems to be over.
You dont need to upgrade to a Core 2 Quad Processor, it is a bit excessive (although very powerful).
It’s recommended to upgrade the ram as much as possible, especially when using Vista(at least 2 GB). My personal preference, as well as many many others is to stick with XP. But upgrading the ram is still a very good thing for any computer.
thanks avid reader
i tried it before midnight pst but it was over already
what should i look for in a computer that i will be using for at least a few years before i get a new one
What is necessary and what is extra but good to get anyway
thanks
Shimon
I would recommend 3 to 4 gb of ram, large hard drive: 350 to 500 gb. Stay with XP for now (you can always upgrade to Vista later if it gets really good…), Pentium 2.00GHz procesor or the AMD equivalent, good video card, cd/dvd burner, card reader. BTW I use a 15 inch screen and it works just fine.
If you dont need the computer right now i would suggest you wait for another good dell sale, they always come around sooner or later. Dan post’s the realy good ones here.
Good Luck!
Just want to inform all of u,
i participated in this offer and my blazing fast pc arrived today, its awesome!
Thanks Dan
P.S , the memory card slot driver wasnt connected, i sat on th phone with indian tech support, they finally figured out it wasnt connected at the end and showed me how to reconnect it to the motherboard.
I was pretty impressed with their service, better than my toshiba experiences!
