Staples is waiving the $6.95 purchase fee on $200 Visa gift cards through 12/12 in-store only.
Use your Chase Ink Cash Card or Ink Plus card and get 5 points per dollar spent. Office supply stores never charge a fee for retailer gift cards such as Amazon and hundreds more, but these Visa gift cards can be used anywhere!
The weekly ad states that there is a limit of 5 per customer per day, though the fee waiver should apply on up to 10 cards per transaction if your store isn’t a stickler for limits.
You can use the gift cards to buy money orders at Walmart or at various grocery stores and gas stations. Just use the last 4 digits of the card as the PIN number to cash them out.
Or you can donate the gift card to charity and get a receipt for the full face value while earning 5 points per dollar.
Or you can give away a gift card as a wedding or Bar Mitzvah gift.
Or you can always use it for everyday spending while earning 5% or 5 Chase Ultimate Rewards points per dollar everywhere!
I tried buying a money order with these cards at Walmart but they wouldn’t allow it. Am I missing something?
In NYC area it’s not working for a while. Best way to use the gift cards is to actually spend money on them.
Can you post a link for the Amazon gift cards from either of those stores? I can’t seem to find them
Staples sells many gift cards online, but Amazon gift cards are only available in their stores.
Need a post discussing how to liquidate these. Never had success buying money orders with them, not at Walmart or local grocery stores.
Depends on where you live.
But even if you can’t liquidate, just use them anywhere and enjoy the 5x.
Please describe in more detail the geographic restrictions. Are you familiar with particular areas where they can be used to buy money orders? I find it too cumbersome to use the cards for spending, especially when buying multiple cards. Thanks
If you’re in NYC metro, good luck.
Otherwise, you should be able to find stores to buy money orders.
Thanks but currently in Colorado and no luck. They are telling me moneygram won’t accept gift cards.
Try at grocery stores or gas stations.
Can these gift cards be used in Israel with no foreign transaction fee?
Absolutely no
Pay your insurance, con Edison, and water bill for starters
Can you load these to Amazon balance?
Sure, but you may as well buy Amazon GCs then.
There cam be an advantage to add them as a debit card, of you register the Gift cards, you can get from amazon extra 2%
You can use them to make donations to tzdakas, pay some utilities and regular spending.
Always hard to find stores that let you use the remaining balance on one of these cards when it’s less than the full transaction total, Costco seems to do that, have to find more stores that have payment systems that let…
A lot of grocery stores automatically drain Visa gift cards. Also in some stores, when you check out, if it asks if the amount is ok, you can select ‘no’ and type in the amount left on the gift card. Then charge the remaining balance to another card.
In some stores, selecting No implies that you didn’t really want to pay with that card and you have to swipe again, but if you select Yes, even though the amount displayed is not okay, it will drain the balance.
Can visa gc be liquidated in nj Walmart
Or all tri state area Walmart store’s Do Not allow it, glad this is brought up, I hear people buy at Simon mall ten thousand here and their then at staples they buy more ,no one seems to give a answer other then spend them ,that’s not why we are buying them ,we buy to liquidate ASAP,
Thanks for the heads up! Just visited two Staples this evening and purchased a total of 17 cards! I’ll be using them to fulfill charitable pledges I have made. Will hopefully go back and get more cards this week.
These don’t work any more for cashing out using MOs. BE AWARE
