Wine Tasting For Two And $50 At Tierra Sur For Just $40 From Living Social
In my opinion Tierra Sur is the finest kosher restaurant in North America. It’s located in the Herzog Winery in Oxnard, CA, about an hour west of Los Angeles.
Going out there is always a very special experience, Chefs Todd Aarons and Gabriel Garcia do a phenomenal job with succulent, unique flavors and a menu that is always changing.
My wife and I were just there last month and if people would like I’d be happy to type up notes from that trip along with a review of the places we went to and ate at.
Anyway for $40 you get:
-Reserve wine-tasting flights for two.
-A pair of branded wine glasses.
-$50 to spend on food and wine in the Tiera Sur restaurant, which holds the highest ZAGAT rating in Ventura County.
-The paid value never expires but the promotion value expires 07/12/13.
-Limit 1 per table/party per visit
-Reservations required and subject to availability
-Valid only for dine-in
-Entire value must be used in a single visit

IME if u go during peak season (summer,legal holidays) u must call at least a full week in advance to guarantee a reservation!

It is an AMAZING restaurant! My wife and I went last year in the summer. Its in the herzog winery so you can see the winery before you go to eat. they have exclusive wines only available there I believe (or maybe just exclusive for california) also I forgot which highway it was but its the highway that goes along the beach through Malibu and it was absolutely stunning. part of the experience is definitely driving up there. Plus, you cant beat LA weather….

Dan,I really miss those Gift Certificates they used to sell at Costco.Its similar to this deal,but they were unlimited and you can combine them. Any idea if there coming back.Last i asked them they said there waiting for demand.Maybe we can use the power of this board to convince them.

If anyone wants to stay there overnight there is a new Hilton homewood suites around the corner with great huge rooms and amazing customer service!
I agree, this restaurant is a beautiful kosher restaurant with delicious and interesting dishes. I have eaten at the cream of the crop here in NYC and Tierra Sur is surely in the major leagues. But I would admit, that I was possibly influenced by the surroundings, unique location and atmosphere! But the wine pairings is hands down outstanding.

once went there on a date. so we ordered dessert to go. went to the car,realized we forgot it, went back and found the waiter eating it. made a choice to not go back.

two notes for you if you will be going to tierra sur. 1. print out a coupon from camirillo commons outlet vip coupon booklet (this can be done online no need to actually go to the outlet)for 0.25 (cents)wine tasting for two normally $6 (last time I went) 2. for a while they had a coupon in the jewish community mag. for a free bottle of wine with dinner. there were no heavy terms, really nice about it. You can pick up this mag in most kosher groceries. although the coupon is not offered every month.

Overrated and they always say the restaurant is overbooked, or make it seem like it is nearly impossible to get a reservation. If you are going with 4 or less people just show up, even on the weekends and holidays. They are never as crowded as the person will tell you on the phone. It is all a marketing ploy. Btw, enjoy driving 45 minutes from LA to be around pretentious and condescending servers for food which is a 5 or 6 at best. Tierra Sur are visionaries in branding as their whole selling point and brand is that they are the best kosher restaurant. Unfortunately in actuality that is far from the truth.
Amazing restaurant! I would totally buy this in a flash if I had plans to be out west.
Just BTW, last I heard, Todd Aarons who is an absolutely amazing chef no longer works there…
