That’s not how insurance works. I believe you just get a refund of your purchase price only if you have a qualifying reason to change your plans.

Alaska still awards you full mileage credit for the trip. So a round trip would yield approximately 4950 miles. A $200 ticket on AA or UA for example (if you have no status) is 5 miles per dollar, or 1000 miles. Ouch.

I booked the deal for $99 on Alaska airlines bec the timing was better. But it stated the you don’t get preassigned seats. What’s the consequences for that? Should I rather go in a less convenient time on Jet Blue?
United just matched this sale… $99 dates are in basic economy though
But $257 RT Newark-LAX in regular economy is still a great deal, and many can then upgrade that fare to premium economy if they like. Great deal.
