Just because I feel it needs to be said, given a choice between vacationing in Morocco or most of Europe, I’d see Morocco any day of the week. Good people, they don’t nurse hatred. Felt safer than some American cities as far as being Jewish. King of Morocco has been a supporter of Israel, very protective of the Jewish community, and believe it or not some of his close advisers are Jews. Plus he just officially recognized Israel. So you tell me where’s safe for a Jew today? Morocco or France?
As for restaurants when I was in Casablanca there was a Moroccan woman woman who cooked meals for frum tourists. Obviously the SHCHITA was Sephardic the Rav said it was Kosher. I should add that I was with my father who speaks arabic and knew the Rav growing up. Most Jews wear hats to shul. However I felt absolutely no antisemitism at all. Was given directions to the shul by a Muslim stranger who walked us to the door.
It’s a muslim country. Isn’t it dangerous for Jews?
No. Perhaps you should read some history books regarding in which countries Jews have been most brutally persecuted. Hint they aren’t Muslim countries. I’ve been to Morocco with a yarmulke went to shul, ate kosher. it’s a perfectly safe.expect beggers and higher prices if you speak English.
There are functioning Jewish communities with restaurants there?
Yes. There is still a small Moroccan Sephardic Community and there is also Lubavitch.
I went in Skyscanner for this deal to Morocco it was not listed
Buyer beware. We booked through Chase Sapphire for a trip on TAP last summer. We cancelled due to COVID and still have not gotten our money back.
If you cancelled why would you get money back?
Price jumps to almost 700.00
Thanks! I’ll definitely consider this and to use my Marriott 7-night package.
This is so tempting!
Is there a Jewish community in Marrakech? Kosher Food?
Yes, click on the DDF links in the post for more discussion.
Doesn’t seem like much if anything…
hey dan
is there some shtik to pull to get a refund? like booking with a certain card or website?
What is the fare class we will be getting? Could it help for getting UA PQP’s?
I wouldn’t be so confident TAP will still be around when my flight are booked
