El Al previously announced that customers with tickets for travel through 8/31/20 would be able to make changes to travel through 4/30/21.
They are now extending that to allow travel through 12/31/21:

While El Al is waiving change fees, you will still be responsible to pay any applicable difference in fare.
El Al was offered a $400MM bailout, but they said that the conditions such as a 33% workforce reduction and limits on executive pay, were too onerous to accept.
Earlier this week El Al finally added a refund form, but they have yet to provide refunds for cancelled flights.
I’m disappointed that El Al hasn’t come up with creative ways to convince passengers to accept a voucher in lieu of a refund, such as offering to waive the difference in fare on the route they purchased and/or offering a 10% bonus credit for accepting a voucher.
Anyone want to guess on the over/under date for when El Al will finally issue refunds?

I contacted my travel agent on Monday, May 11 for a refund for my tickets that El Al canceled multiple times. The refund showed up on my credit card account three days later on May 14. So there’s still hope!

In general, airline try to make money. Currently, their goal is to limit losses so they can stay in business.
Dan, while your dream is to have any ticket be made valid whenever, that is not in the interest of the airline. The difference in demand and airfares between winter lows and Yom Tov are more than other air route pairs experience.
They sure could sweeten the pot a bit, the 10% bonus is doable.
Hence why I said and/or.
Bottom line is El Al would rather hold onto the money forever. If they don’t offer something of value then why would anyone let them keep their money voluntarily? The most value they offer, the higher the uptake will be.

I called Chase Travel multiple times and they keep telling me that they requested a refund from the carrier (elal) and they’ll refund me when the carrier approves my refund
I told them that the DOT requires that they refund me whether or not the carrier does and I filed a complaint with the DOT Against Chase travel and elal

Yes I tried 3 times and they keep and saying that the airline will provide a refund when they reopen
No not yet. I went with your advice to wait for the travel date and have the flight canceled by the airline. it’s scheduled for early June. If that’s the best approach I’ll do so and let you know what happens. Thank you!
Dan, just to update you, as promised. Received a notification that flight was cancelled and travel credit issued. quick phone call to UR travel desk and a full points credit was issued.
