The S. Regis Princeville Resort in Kauai has left the Marriott program.
It’s not the first former SPG hotel to leave Marriott. The S. Regis, W, and Westin in Dubai all bolted as well.
We stayed there 7 years ago using 6 SPG resort nights that I got as part of a stay 3, get 1 free promo. It was the most luxurious SPG resort in Hawaii by a long shot. It also offered the best views of any Hawaiian hotel that I’ve stayed in across all 4 of the major islands.
It will be renovated and rebranded as a “1 Hotel.”
Here are some pictures from our 2011 stay.
The view from the room:
5 month old Rafi enjoying the view:
Marriott has 8 other properties in Kauai that currently cost between 25-60K points per night, but none that compare to the S. Regis Princeville.
It’s certainly a giant loss for the Marriott brand in Hawaii.
Did you stay at the S. Regis Princeville before it left Marriott?
Noooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With this one gone from Marriott/SPG’s lineup, understanding there are 8 other properties, which one would you choose now to use my Marriott Travel certificate. Also, who is 1Hotel affiliated with?
Not part of any chain.
I think 1Hotel is part of Starwood, the group that sold SPG to Marriott
Definetly an amazing hotel with great views and really m6 favorite island in hawaii !!!
Huge loss. Just curious – why call it S. Regis instead of St. Regis? It’s not a religious reference, it’s just the name of a hotel.
I stayed here with my family last Thanksgiving. It was great, especially Thanksgiving dinner with the cinnamon roll bread pudding at dessert.
But I must say, the place really felt like the ‘Dean Martin’ of resorts, and needed an update to some of its features.
I actually just stayed there (Marriott reservation although now under the new Princeville Resort management) and sadly the service has gone to rot. Valet didn’t even notice us drive up for check in. No welcome beverages offered. They’ve gotten rid of the famous champagne sabering and toast (although they claimed to be working on a rebranded version). The room still had dirt and rotting flower petals from the previous guest. The decor is still very elegant and you can’t really beat that view, but a 5 star experience it is not.
The Grand Hyatt on the other hand…like Mary Poppins.
What’s up with Marriott? They also lost the JW ovin on KoOlina a few years ag. It’s not a nice as the Kauai St. Regis, but it was nice and in a good location.
How did you stay there 6 nights if the stay 3 get 1 Promotion offered only a weekend night?
I’m sure it will still look the same as always.
I’ve been there as well and have a Raffi too
Yes, loved it. Your pictures of the view, bring back great memories
Yes. In February. Feeling sad.
Nooooooooooo
