You can get $5 off a $200 of Mastercard gift cards from Staples stores through 10/27.

Use your Chase Ink Cash Business Card or Ink Plus card and get 5 points per dollar spent.

Some stores may limit you to 1 transaction, but some stores won’t have any limits at all, which would allow you to scale the savings quite nicely.

With this promo a $200 Mastercard gift cards will cost $201.95 including fees and you’ll earn 1,010 points (worth $15-$20) by charging it to an Ink Plus or Ink Cash card.

Mastercard gift cards should have the PIN number in the package. They’re a bit trickier to use at WalMart, you need to hit cancel on the keypad after swiping it in order to change it to a debit payment before using it to load Bluebird, buying money orders, or using bill pay. You can also buy money orders at various grocery stores and gas stations.

Or you can donate the gift card to charity and get a receipt for the full face value.

Or you can give away a gift card as a wedding or Bar Mitzvah gift.

Or you can always use it for everyday spending while earning 5% or 5 points per dollar everywhere.

Warning: MasterCard gift cards are known to be prone to fraud. I know many people, myself included, who lost money off these cards (there was fraudulent activity on the card). If you do buy please make sure you will liquidate very quickly and check balance frequently.

Have you seen reports of this recently?
For what it’s worth, I never got hacked, even when I waited a while. Was hoping to get hacked so that they would just send me a refund check after I filed a fraud claim 🙂

Don’t wish for that. It takes about 3-4 months to get it resolved and they send you a replacement MCGC.

I have not seen reports recently as I have not bought since last year. But last year during a deal I bought a bunch and read on another website about this issue. I checked some cards and there were funds missing on some. The ones that were okay I quickly liquidated to e-z pass. The ones with lost funds I tried fighting but never got refunded as was too late they said.

Sounds like the Cleveland Cavaliers. They refuse to refund people who paid for tickets to playoff games which weren’t played. Someone tried fighting the charge with amex and they also weren’t helpful, saying it was too long ago. Any lawyers out there willing to take a class action lawsuit??? At least we got 2 TYP per dollar wasted.

Still waiting for my new card to be mailed. I was charged by “CAL Water”. I went through a lengthy process of filing for fraud and was told (2 weeks ago) my card is in the mail……

          Mastercard as well?
When did you get the card and when was it hacked?

Ink Business “Preferred” also gets 5 points per dollar spent?

I couldn’t buy a money order at Wal Mart with this. When I hit cancel, nothing happened. How should I be doing this?

I solved the problem. You first need to establish a PIN prior to redeeming the card. Then when buying a money order, hit CANCEL and press DEBIT. Original, I used the last 4 digits of the card as a PIN. That’s why it didn’t work.

This is a great buy, in order to obtain inexpensive miles using a Chase Ink card.
I had no issue purchasing 9 cards per transaction/day at my local Staples store.

However, I’ve had a heck of a time registering these cards on line for use on line. I can do it on the phone, but that requires a lot of time.

I’ve called the people at the 888 number many times, and they all deny that there is an issue on their end.
They recommended clearing my cookies, caches, try IE, Chrome and/or Mozilla.

I’ve done all these steps, and still have issues entering their web portal. It rejects all the card numbers.

Is anyone else having issues registering these cards (for on line use) via the web site?
    Thanks,
