Update: Today is the deadline for Hyatt cardholders to register for 10% of their points back for stays through 9/5.
Originally posted on 5/23:
-If you need more Hyatt points you can buy them with a 30% bonus until 11:59pm CDT tonight.
-Registration will remain open until 6/30.
-Redeem your points for free nights, Points + Cash stays or toward room upgrades, dining and spa services completed between June 1 and September 5, 2017.
-Stays must be completed by 9/5, so if you are staying over that date, you’ll want to split up that award into 2 reservations.
-Points redeemed for Avis car rental certificates or points transferred to airline partners are not eligible for this promotion.
-Officially it states to allow 6-8 weeks after your points redemption has been completed for the points rebate, but based on experience from this promotion in the past, it should post much faster that that.
While the terms indicate that only points redeemed between 6/1-9/5 will qualify, Hyatt has confirmed to me that bookings made before 6/1 will qualify as long as the stay is completed between 6/1-9/5.
Here is the regular Hyatt award chart:
Hotel Category | Standard Room Award | Suite Night Award | Points+Cash Standard Room Award | Cost of points saved with P+C Award |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 5K | 8K | 2.5K+$50 | 2 cents/point |
2 | 8K | 13K | 4K+$55 | 1.38 cents/point |
3 | 12K | 20K | 6K+$75 | 1.25 cents/point |
4 | 15K | 24K | 7.5K+$100 | 1.33 cents/point |
5 | 20K | 32K | 10K+$125 | 1.25 cents/point |
6 | 25K | 40K | 12.5K+$150 | 1.2 cents/point |
7 | 30K | 48K | 15K+$300 | 2 cents/point |
And here is the Hyatt award chart with 10% off award stays:
Hotel Category | Standard Room Award | Suite Night Award | Points+Cash Standard Room Award | Cost of points saved with P+C Award |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 4.5K | 7.2K | 2.25K+$50 | 2.22 cents/point |
2 | 7.2K | 11.7K | 3.6K+$55 | 1.53 cents/point |
3 | 10.8K | 18K | 5.4K+$75 | 1.39 cents/point |
4 | 13.5K | 21.6K | 6.75K+$100 | 1.48 cents/point |
5 | 18K | 28.8K | 9K+$125 | 1.39 cents/point |
6 | 22.5K | 36K | 11.25K+$150 | 1.33 cents/point |
7 | 27K | 43.2K | 13.5K+$300 | 2.22 cents/point |
You can determine the category of every Hyatt hotel via this link. Just toggle the category number to view other categories and expand the regions on the bottom to include hotels in the Asia/Pacific region or the Europe, Africa & Middle East region.
When booking a points+cash reservation I included a metric in the chart above that shows the rate that you’re effectively buying your points back at.
You’ll notice that points+cash stays are a worse value with the 10% off chart. That’s because you only get 10% of your points back, not the cash used.
The category 6 rate is normally the biggest points+cash bargain. You “buy” back or save 12.5K points per night for $150. Effectively you paid just 1.2 cents per point ($150/12,500) to save those 12.5K points per night. The category 1 and 7 points + cash deals are normally the worst as you are effectively paying 2 cents per point.
With 10% off the category 6 rate falls to 1.33 cents per point and the category 1 and 7 rates fall to 2.22 cents per point.
Note that standard awards have no blackouts or capacity controls on standard rooms and suites. However points+cash reservations are capacity controlled. A nice benefit of points+cash rooms is that they are considered a paid rate, so they qualify for all promotions that apply to paid hotel stays. On the flip side, Hyatt doesn’t charge resort fees on point stays or on free nights from their credit card, but you will pay a resort fee on points+cash stays.
Suite nights require a 3 night minimum stay and can only be booked over the phone.
When I click on your link it sends me to the Hyatt page to purchase points, but there is no 30% bonus, just 2.4 cents per point
@thenewguy: yes, you can call them and they will give you your number, then they will tell you can’t register unless you have points in your account
@Dave –
When the promo page comes back up, try re-registering. If you’re already signed up, you will get a ‘Sorry, this account is already registered’ message (I did this same thing yesterday).
I *think* I registered for this promo when it first came out, but I’m not sure. The page is down right now. Is there a way to check to make sure I am registered? Do they send an email?
page is down.. any suggestions?
The page you are trying to access is currently down for maintenance. We apologize for this inconvenience and are working hard to get everything in order and back online. Please come back soon!
@Dan:
no, i thought they will automatically register you just like spg
@thenewguy:
@apl:
You didn’t register for a Hyatt number before applying?

@Anonymous:
You can try and explain that he’s financially responsible for you.
@Anonymous:
Do you live in CLE?
@yossi:
12-13 months from when you complete the spending on the card.
@Robert:
They told me there is no need to rebook previously made reservations.
While the terms indicate that only points redeemed between 6/1-9/5 will qualify, Hyatt has confirmed to me that bookings made before 6/1 will qualify as long as the stay is completed between 6/1-9/5.
The promotion says registration is 5/23 thru June 30. If you redeemed prior to 5/23 are you eligible? Or do I need to cancel and rebook?
How long are the 2 free nights good for ?
And dan any chance we could start a kibbutz of bachurim to learn Tanya with you or maybe we could learn bchavrusa? Weekly or monthly etc?No cc points q would be asked
@Dan: I did spend to much to quickly and know I need your advice on how to get approved even though I should have listened and waited 6months I couldn’t resist. Can I put my fathers name on the 4506 form? If they pull his taxes they’ll definitely approve me although I’m not sure if children over 21 are mentioned on tax forms that parents fill out
will they waive AF first year if you ask?
@umm…:
What did you to to get AA?
@Anonymous:
They don’t ask everyone for their taxes, they only do it if you spend too much too quickly or violate something else laid out here:

@Anonymous:
