All cancelled … status reads: “Orders Review Declined”, and no, it’s not my card that got declined. A couple of orders were done with Amazon Payment with successful charges.
Order cancels due to OOS
@Sam – why do you ask Dan such impossible questions??
Any status if orders are going through or cancelled?
In for one. Hopefully it works!
@dan are the orders gonna go through or will it be cancelled. what do you think?
@Meir: Not available
I ordered 4, checked my cc, and was already charged… Why in your right mind would you call the company, I’m curious what your mindset was. “Hello, Customer Service? yea you guys screwed up your pricing… I really hope my order is fulfilled I could really use the extra space
They got up to it. And shut it down. Deals dead.
Dead…!
looking forward to the first cancellation email.. who is gonna be first!?
do we have a history of how PCrush deals with pricemistakes?
@ B l
It’s not Dan’s duty to remind people to not be stupid. I do think that he should have noticed it was SAS and not SATA and mentioned that in the title though.
Order still pending
@dan @jj next time when you posting a deal like this please include the rules “what do and what not to do” of getting this kind of deals canceled.
Thanks
If this deals goes through, when will we know?
Time to push these deals to approved members that can comprehend the rules of a price mistake
What’s the most anyone ordered here?
You cant get it any more for $39 deal is dead
Item already has been pulled – seems dead
It’s now $306.75 – definitely a price mistake. I hope they honor everyone else’s but I highly doubt it.
Dead. The link simply goes to their home page. 🙁
this will cancel or I just upgraded my 3TB HDD to 4TB and made some money
@Jackmarius:
Thank you. Very nice of you.
How do I find out if my computer supports SAS drives?
@Jackmarius:
Are you slow or stupid Rule #1 you never call a company when it comes to something that might be a price mistake thanks for potentially ruining the deal for everyone
i just called pcRUSH customer service and they said as of last night this deal is dead. they said all ordered placed today will be cancelled. this was a promotion by seagate and the price wasnt an error. just that anyone who ordered them today will have their orders cancelled
If you look on the side bar “You might also like” it is listed there for $272. Then you click on it and it goes up to $274.
You can use the cable to connect to a SATA port. HOWEVER, you need to ensure that your motherboard supports SAS drives. This does not convert the usability.
Make sure the motherboard that you are connecting to supports SAS as well as SATA.
$200 from them maybe, but $11 from Amazon:

In for 2!
What’s up with all the douchey naysayers?
I called Seagate technical support to ask if this could be used on SATA. Their answer was that it would require a SAS cable costing around $200.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000V72AQ4/?tag=cl03f-20
wouldn’t this work>
Why not just sell them on ebay? Why tell them about the mistake?
ORDERED 5, THEN CALLED TO CANCEL (THIS IS NOT SATA DRIVE!), THEY TOLD ME I’M 10TH PERSON TO CANCEL THIS MORNING 🙂 NOT EVERY DEAL IS A DEAL! :))
Just ordered 3. Isn’t this a 4tb hard drive? What is it?
Seems will not work for Mac http://www.amazon.com/review/RUSJRCXEF1MVG/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00BV19DIW
idiots that buy 5, greatly increase the chance of cancellations. thanks morons
@anonymous
that’s because amazon sells sas & sata drives
Seems like you can use this with both the SAS and SATA interface according to the amazon description….
The Seagate Constellation Internal Drive series brings you everything you could want in a capacity-optimized enterprise hard drive and is ideal for bulk-data applications. Features the highest-capacity large form factor with up to 4 TB of storage for demanding data growth, plus, sixth-generation drive technology with SAS and SATA interfaces for 24×7 reliability you can trust.
There are no USB enclosures that handle SAS. There are many features that just wouldn’t translate to USB. The only SAS external enclosures are 4-12 bay things that need an external HBA. The cheapest is $230. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816111183) You’d have to get an HBA to even use that, so figure on another $150 at least. A Dell T110 II server with a H200 SAS HBA would run less than $900, but it doesn’t have hot swap capability. At the very least, you’d have to get a SAS HBA for a desktop machine.

i heard oyu can get in trouble from the police for buying these
@DR:
PLEASE READ THIS COMMENT OR YOU WILL SPEND LOTS OF MONEY ON A SAS CONTROLLER.
I just bought 4 for a new RAID system, this is a steal, i hope they honor it
You guys better all cancel your orders. These will be useless to you. These are enterprise drives that are meant for use in arrays and servers with special backplanes. THEY DONT SELL SAS ENCLOSURES.
@Dan you should update this post to reflect that.
@exShorYoshuvGuy: This site says “Your comments are posting too quickly” when there are too many comments being posted by all readers at the same time.
there’s no way they’ll fill it… sorry for being a debbie downer
Folks, there is only about a 3% chance that this will ne honored, and that is if you order ONE. If you order multiple, then it’s a 0% chance for everyone.
Don’t be greedy.
have to spring for the next day air shipping option
Bear in mind these are SAS drives and won’t connect to your regular computer SATA connection. For most of you this will be useless.
keep in mind its a SAS interface not sata with most computers use
@dan thanks! Got 6 let’s hope it pays off (who can’t use an extra couple $$ ?)
@obnoxious guy: im happy I bought before you I might still have a chance…..
Poor reputation likely means they won’t honor it or they will and you’ll get defective drives.
Order AcceptanceÂ
We try our best to provide you with the most accurate prices. In the case where there is an incorrect price due to error, pcRUSH.com has the right to refuse or cancel any orders placed at the incorrect listed price. We do not charge your credit card until the item is shipped. You will be notified when additional information or verification is required… My fingers are crossed
@TBM: they didnt even ask for any info right?
Use coupon “ssocial2014a” for $10 off $150
why not. just resell it for the original price. business is business.
@Dan: Thanks so much. I ordered 8 of them. Was meaning to build a box in the house to store photos and media and this is PERFECT!
@Abka: Any enclosure that is for 3.5 and supports SAS connections. USB3 or Thunderbolt depending on what connection you’d like.
In for three. Let’s see what happens…
Worked… Seemed too easy though😋
Bought one, hopefully they’ll honor it. Don’t get greedy, buying one gives everyone more of a chance.
Thanks, ordered 2, we’ll see if it gets shipped
how much can these be sold for on ebay or any other site?
Thanks! Ordered three for my Synology NAS
in for 2,000. Gonna resell them on ebay!!
I bought it, my current 500GB external is dying so this has enough space for everything if as you said I can buy an enclosure and make it external.
By the way, how am I posting comments too quickly if this is my first one of the day???
in for one
@Dan “You can buy a hard drive enclosure to make this into an external hard drive.”
Please give some links
Awesome deal
i got 5
@meir
lol slim chances that will happen
FYI be careful, this drive uses an enterprisey SAS interface meant for disk arrays, not the normal SATA interface found in consumer systems. It may not be so easy to find an enclosure supporting it.
Thanks.
Bought a few for office use!
Thanks. How much aprox. How much $ Is a hard drive enclosure?
Thanks so much Dan! I never have enough space so I bought two!
Please beware – these are SAS drives, meaning that unless your motherboard’s SATA backplane supports them – you will need at least a new cable and maybe a new SAS controller!
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1904656/connect-sas-hard-drive-sata-interface.html
Can anyone recommend a good hard drive enclosure that would work for this?
Thanks Dan! Just ordered 2!
thanks in for 2
Any idea what specs to look for when ordering an enclosure?
This site has subpar ratings.
Ill give it a shot…order processed and received receipt
People buy one not a hundred so that there’s at least a chance they’ll honor it…
