Just be aware of Kashrus issues (for those that this concern applies).
What would be the problem? Unless I’m mistaken, ‘open box’ items were on display in the store. If that’s the case, I don’t believe anyone was putting their lunch in the in-store-display microwave.
“Open box” can also very often be repackaged returns. This is one of the unintended consequences of very liberal retail policies. As someone in a similar retail field, I actually receive from time to time some retailer inside tips on how to best handle returns.
